Why was Draymond’s Shooting Form so much better in HS?

Draymond's form was sooo much more fluid in HS. There's at least a couple other players including Giannis who I've noticed this for. Wonder why this happens – maybe it's just bulking up, or new shooting coaches or what?

Things change a little when you get stronger. He adapted and created what his shot is now.

he was shooting high school 3s for one

He’s stronger, more injured and has a more NBA ready body.

One time at a warriors game I witnessed draymond sink ten in a row from the top of the key and then hug his shooting coach. I wasn’t surprised at all when he made like 5 in a row in a game last season

Just for shits and giggles, go to your local gym and do a full upper body workout, then head to the court to shoot some jumpers when you’re done.

If a player’s physical conditioning requires significant weight training during the season, it’s almost impossible to maintain a reliable jumper.

The best shooters don’t really lift much during the season— just enough to stay in shape. Any bulking is done during the off season.

Draymond depends on peak strength in order to defend taller players. Furthermore, his genetics would probably settle into a fat boy physique if he didn’t strength train consistently

he heard Steph was carrying a backpack when playing and tried to copy that form

He mentioned this in either one of his pods or on someone else’s I forget. Yes his role was to actually score in HS and college but being drafted to the warriors when they already had David Lee, he knew he wasn’t going to get any minutes as a scorer so he had to reinvent himself. Scorers all need consistency and because he stopped looking for his shot because he had to set up others, almost all the shots he takes are out of rhythm.

It wasn’t so much better. It was very similar to his form now.

Never thought I’d watch Draymond green high school highlights but it’s crazy to see he’s given the same clearance in the NBA as in HS. Top of the key, point forward, no shot respect and he’s tearing them up.

Probably has something to do with him not being Lebrons personal nut holder yet

It may look physically more appealing but may not be better. He leaned back a lot on his jump shot which is good for getting the ball elevated with his form, but sacrificing accuracy. He now shoots more crouched and doesnt lean back when he jumps which will make it more accurate but flatter. Maybe he was trying to learn from steph?

Boy lit up the cavs in game 7

His legs were not as overly formed from all the nut kicking he did, so his body was more balanced and allowed for better form

Because he wasn’t kicking people’s nuts.
