Thorpe has kind of turned into a low-key Spurs hater recently so I don’t take too much what he says about the team Seriously. He was recently on a pod where they were talking about highlighting some teams who probably won’t be talked about much this year, the bottom feeders, and the other guy decided to bring up the Spurs and was talking positively about Victor and all they have going on

He simply just spent the entire time whining about how San Antonio is messing up, how he doesn’t trust the Spurs anymore. He doesn’t think they know what they’re doing, etc, etc.

San Antonio winning 31 games, which is his guesstimate, really isn’t that egregious. But the idea that they’re going to attempt to actually tank this year based on how they operated, outside of having serious injuries that forced their hand, is goofy as hell to me.

There’s a big difference between the team simply not being ready in the brutal West and finishing with 30 plus wins, and them having a conscious decision to wave the white flag and start resting guys just because. I’d be shocked if they do that this year. I think they’re going to genuinely try to build chemistry and start building a winning system that will be in place for next season, when the West will likely be worse And Victor will likely have better teammates (be it from development or being acquired).

I seriously doubt it. Unless they start out super poorly or have a major injury, I think this team will try to win. Pop isn’t going to coach forever, we got our guy and are loaded with picks and cap flexibility going forward, Victor is a winner and isn’t content to collect a paycheck….and they went out and got CP3.

Also, Garcia has always been full of shit.

I don’t think they’re tanking. I think they’re more just aware of the fact that the team is likely going to be 11-13th seed. West is just too stacked to really be anything this season if you ask me, it’s just not the guys time this season

  4. Really depends on how the first half of the season goes. If CP3 and Barnes make them playoff bound, I could see them staying all year and getting Wemby and Co into the playoffs. If it isn’t clicking, I could see PATFO trading CP3 to a contender at the trade deadline and inserting Tre Jones (or Castle if he’s ready) into the starting lineup and running back the same team from last year (plus Barnes). That should be enough for a top 10 pick.

    God, no. Never again.

No I don’t see it. No more Sochan at PG experiments, no more 18 game losing streaks (hopefully) and the BBIQ floor has been raised solely with Castle, Paul and Barnes. Low end is 30-52 imo which I wouldn’t call out right tanking

Shouldn’t be a surprise to be honest.

    – Abnormally strong 2025 draft class per most experts.

    – Realistically we are not much better than last year, just more functional.

    – Literally one injury can spiral us into a tank, we do not have enough depth.

    – That Bulls pick is likely not conveying and ATL is not full tanking. Gotta earn a top 5 pick.

The only way they don’t lean into the tank is if they really surprise some people and take a leap. Not sure they’re ready to do all that yet. Would be pretty stoked if they do though.

  8. They tanked last year even on games they could’ve won. If vassel or Collins were playing ok in the first half they were riding the bench in the 2nd. I lost quite a few bets because of it. After the all star break pop would let them play only because the L’s were just so high.

not winning a championship is considered tanking for our culture. /s
