@New York Knicks

Julius Randle will accept “any role that’s asked of him” to help the Knicks win, reports SNY’s @IanBegley “He’s looking forward to being back, healthy, with this group, and thinks things can be special with Bridges. He wants to win and win in New York.”

For all the big brain people who question his willingness to “buy in”

The role that he should accept and play is the 2nd option and co-star to Jalen Brunson, any other role would be egregious.

    Big season upcoming for 30!

  2. and if his numbers drop, we shouldnt automatically assume a decline. its not that if we winning its a sacrifice, if we losing hes washed/bad fit. there is nuance.

Love to hear this, can’t wait to see this team in action. LGK!

Predicting no less than 23-9-7 from Don Julio

Least surprising news this offseason. No idea why he even had to come out and say it

I’ve been the biggest skeptic of Randle, but I’m hyped for healthy JR. I believe him and wanna see how this team looks.

Not sure why anyone would think any different of this man. I fucking love Randle and I can’t wait to watch this team cook.

*you like that*, Kirk Cousins (RIP) voice.

    2 questions:
1)Is Ju willing/capable of defensively playing the center role effectively enough to allow Thibs to feel confident in consistently deploying him there?

2)Is Ju going to be OK not being in the closing five on some nights?

    Idrk the answers to either?

I don’t understand any of these trade randle posts on sports sites. the Knicks showed they need another creator. how many other of rebound and space the floor and can create a little.

I know we could use another back up center but it’s silly to trade a border all-star for a back up center

99% of the Knicks fans appreciate Julius and know he’s a contributor and a fighter and **knows that we were 14 and 2 in January** with him.

New Yorkers love to make up imaginary enemies to argue with.

We’re all good…. Everybody loves Julius… now stfu

JULIUS I just need you healthy come playoffs big bro. Be ready we need you

Didn’t love Randle as the main guy. Just too inefficient and mentally struggled at times. But I’m not sure there’s a better fit at PF for us. Brunson as the leader and shut down wings with other scoring. So excited for this season.

This is like an ideal situation for Randle – a top 3 option on a championship contending team. No need to carry the whole load himself but lots of opportunity to step up for glory when the time is right. Who wouldn’t want that?

If he focuses on assists and locking down his man we are in a very good place. The scoring will come easily.

  15. They alway say this in the offseason let’s revisit this in November and May.

  16. I needed to read this after listening to Zach Lowe’s podcast about potential Julius Randle trades. I don’t understand why just because Randle didn’t immediately sign an extension when it became available (just last month!), media heads rush to the assumption that the Knicks are looking to trade him.

The current player market is in a flummox with the new CBA, and Lowe (rightly this time, I believe) posits that it won’t be the “middle class” of players who financially suffer, but rather star players that aren’t outright max contract players. Randle fits under that bill completely. With that context in mind, it’s easy to see why there hasn’t been an extension with Randle WITHOUT jumping to the conclusion it’s because the Knicks are looking to switch things up. The Knicks know they can’t just sign Randle to a max contract without suffering competitively, and Randle knows this as well plus the fact that no other realistically will be looking to give him a max. Nothing about this situation suggests any animosity.

This is one of the best years for him to hang back a bit now. We’re not expecting insane productivity right from the rip. Brunson’s got the keys and Randle’s got the best supporting cast that he’s probably ever been with. I hope they mesh well

He’s gonna have a 20-10-5 season. On top of his usual ISO postups, which are necessary to collapse the defense and get open 3s, all of those Hartenstein floaters are going to him + he will score on offensive rebounds

  19. January Jules with wing stop, Big Meech, and cap leading the way is gonna be scary. I can’t wait. Fuck the ppl making trades for this man. He came when we were garbage, and led the way to making us respectable.

With all the hype around brunson, I really hope our fan base would appreciate Jules more. He was the catalyst of our turnaround. When we signed him, we were at one of our lowest points after just trading away porzingis. Now we’re a top 5 team in the east and arguably top 2 if the whole squad can stay healthy

  21. York_Villain

What a great leader. We’re so lucky to have him.

  22. Abradolf_Lincler_50

Julius is gonna get his game in and game out. The only thing he needs to do is pass the ball out of a double team quicker and not be a ball stopper on offense. He’s gonna get the same looks he’s always gotten under Thibs, he just needs to move the ball quicker on the offensive end instead of waiting for the double team to come to him

  23. Fishmike52

It’s gonna be a great role. Brunson is the floor general. Brunson is the finisher. It did not take Jules and Jalen long to get this sorted. However this roster really tailor made for a high usage, high gravity point forward, and that’s Jules.

He’s gonna be surrounded by the best defensive wings in the league and shooters. This is such a great situation for him and the Knicks.

I think the game plan will be simple:

Dismantle with Randle. Dudes’ a wrecking ball in the post. Let him cook and dish

Finish with the king. We all know who.

Keep minutes reasonable for Brunson/Bridges/OG/Jules with McBride/Donte/Josh

I can’t phucking wait. This is such a Thibs team.
