[Amick] …the Golden State Warriors are looking at this scenario and they “have interest” in Butler after clearing a lot of cap space… After putting together a couple more contracts in a potential deal for Butler, they could remain in a favorable tax position.

“. . . clearing a lot of cap space . . . ” ???????
WTF????
We barely crawled below the First Apron. Cap space is nowhere on the horizon for us.
The age and health are obvious concerns but I think he does make sense from a fit standpoint and his timeline matches up with Steph and Dray. Key thing would have to be the price point in terms of what assets we’d have to give up for him. If it’s multiple young players and a lot of picks, then definitely not. But if it’s less, then they should absolutely look into it.
I hope they end up making a move for another vet piece to make one last push. If they stand pat, letting Klay walk was dumb as fuck.
Jimmy is about to turn 35…
He’s too little and too old
Do not want
Jimmy is injured for long stretches every single season…
If he could stay healthy I’d do it
Tough to find a world where this works. We can’t do it now for salary/apron reasons.
Next year we won’t be able to pay Kuminga and Jimmy. So Kuminga is in the Jimmy trade.
If Kuminga balls out we’re not trading him for 35 year old Jimmy.
If Kuminga doesn’t progress Miami won’t want to trade for and extend him at a big number.
this was always the most likely ‘next guy’ to talk about after the Lauri option went away.
Wiggins/Kuminga/GP2/Looney would work financially and even if they extended Butler, he’d be making less than Wiggins + Kuminga next season.
Just being desperate ever since they didn’t go all in for Siakam
I’ll just go with what Steph wants and if we’re crap for 6 years after it’s a small price to pay for the curry experience 🙏
Jimmy is going to clash with dray. Can’t have 2 alphas in the locker room
