Obviously not. He’s bad when he’s injured and tired from carrying a team on his back, but usually he’s about average and when he wants/needs to be, he can be an above average defender. One fucking injured finals series doesnt define him as a defender.

Luka ain’t bad. But he defintely ain’t great. Basketball is about scoring and he does that just fine. Actually way better than fine. Offense is more gooder

So u put this together? Cause then I want some more stuffs that was entertaining. It’s the loud ass keyboard clicks for me.

He’s a good defender when he wants to be. It’s too much to ask a player to literally generate 60 percent of the team’s scoring while also playing all out on defense.
NeptuneOW
He’s a good defender when he is actually putting effort on defense. Unfortunately 70% of the time he’s not
MattAttack218
He’s a decent defender when he’s locked in, but not really at the point of attack.

Who would you guys consider a bad defender currently in the NBA.
DutyPuzzleheaded7765
No he’s decent. Some mavs fans tried making hom out to be some great Defender during the luka slander and mass haters made him out to be a cone. He’s somewhere in between. He can be really good, but he’s not jrue holiday
cleaninfresno
He’s not as good as Mavs fans want him to be but he’s not as bad as people make him out to be
nickbahhh
He’s good when there is effort. Far too often the effort isn’t there. Tired, injured, or whatever the reason he just doesn’t try sometimes. Slow rotations, low effort close outs, etc.

Way overhated, which nba star currently plays phenomenal defense and offensive on both sides of the ball all game? The answer is there really isn’t any, sure there guys that play good defense people act like Luka should score 50 a game and run down the court and guard the best player. It’s about trade offs, so you want Luka spending extra energy on defense or do you want him dismantling the other team on the offensive side. It’s comical to me that people act like every major star is a fantastic defender and Luka is the only one who doesn’t play defensive. Mvp hardens defense was much worse than current Lukas and he got way less hate.

Luka is not going to be able to slide his feet and turn his hips like real nba defenders. What he can do well is leverage his positioning, size, and bbiq. Luka is going to get blown by, but if in the process, he has positioned himself to funnel players into Lively as he’s getting blown by, and gets steals through good decision-making, I think Luka is going to get great results.
And let me tell you something, Lively is going to eat opposing players up this year. It will literally be like running into a bear trap and a buzz-saw at the same time. And that’s pretty savage, but what really is going to set your disbelieving mind ablaze, is when Lively starts merging strength and athleticism with smarts and finesse on both ends of the court.

The best way to put it is that he is serviceable.
