In a stacked Western Conference there may be no team more hard to predict than the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies maybe more than any other team in the NBA have had a roller coaster of a last two seasons. The 2023 season was marred by controversy after controversy and ended with them getting flattened by the Lakers in the playoffs. The 2024 season wasn’t much better as Ja Morant missed nearly the entire season due to a combination of suspensions and injuries. It all seems crazy especially because in 2022 the Grizzlies were considered to have one of the brightest futures in the NBA and 2 years later, it almost feels like they’ve been forgotten…

I was talking to my friend last night about the Grizzles and we both agreed that their best scenario this season would be another second-round exit. I say that because I think all eyes are going to be on the Timberwolves this upcoming season, because they already exposed the Suns and Nuggets and I'm still not entirely sure about how well Klay Thompson really fits with the Mavericks. Since the Lakers, Clippers, Warriors and Pelicans presumably won't be real contenders and will be shooting for the play in at best, I really think the Grizzlies can get back to the second round before bowing out.
Unless Ja keeps the gun away and does what he does best, the Grizzlies will go places. That is if the other teams like the Nuggets or Wolves have a sudden collapse.
I hope they get Kawamura a full contract after the 10 days. He always goes crazy in international competition.

as a grizzlies fan,i dont think they're gonna magically become the 2 seed again, the west is even more stacked than it was in 2023, and it really relies on marcus smart being worth what we sent away (as well as injury luck obviously)
As a Grizzlies fan, last year sucked like hell but Ja Morant and the team's motivation is at an all time high.

I think the grizzlies are a 0.5 win team. At Best. I could easily see them bellow 500. I think anybody who is pro grizzlies in their current situation is underestimating how great teams, contension for championship teams, are built with continuity and a team mindset where everybody buys in. Feels like it wouldn't be a surprise if they were in the Play-In, but not too shocking if they were in the top 6 too. You guys shouted out Kennard and GG (which I hope his injury doesn't take him out for too long) but they still have Brandon Clarke, Vince Williams Jr. is another gem, and who knows, maybe one of their drafted players could break out. Or they could trade a package of Konchar, LaRavia, Aldama, etc. for some surrounding pieces.

I agree that if this year is solid they can be contenders next season. But honest I can see this team ending up anywhere from the 1-10 seed. Super hard to tell how everything will mesh coming back.
