Apple Sauce Granola-Cereal Bars
Ingredients:
Apple sauce
Vinegar
Mayo
Gatorade
Pepper
Granola bars
Cereal
Instructions:
Prepare the Ingredients:
Crush the granola bars into small pieces.
Crush the cereal into smaller crumbs. You can do this by placing the cereal in a plastic bag and using a rolling pin or by pulsing in a food processor.
Make the Binding Mixture:
In a medium bowl, mix 1/2 cup apple sauce with 1 tablespoon of mayo. This will help bind the ingredients together.
Add a splash (about 1 tablespoon) of vinegar to the mixture. This will give a slight tanginess and help with binding.
Combine the Ingredients:
Add the crushed granola bars and cereal to the apple sauce mixture. Stir until everything is well combined and coated.
Press and Set:
Line a small baking dish or a similar container with parchment paper.
Press the mixture firmly into the dish, spreading it out evenly. Use the back of a spoon or your hands to press it down well so it sticks together.
Create the Glaze (Optional):
If you want to add a glaze, mix 1/4 cup Gatorade with a splash of vinegar and a pinch of pepper. Heat in a small saucepan over medium heat until it thickens slightly. Drizzle this over the pressed mixture before it sets.
Chill and Serve:
Refrigerate the mixture for at least 1-2 hours or until it is firm enough to cut into bars.
Once set, remove from the dish and cut into bars or squares.
