2011 NBA Orlando Magic at New York Knicks, March 28, 2011, OT Classic, Melo 39 Points

ORL 106, NYK 113 OT – Carmelo Anthony delivered his best performance since joining the New York Knicks, scoring 39 points in a 113-106 overtime victory over the Orlando Magic on Monday night, snapping the Knicks’ six-game losing streak.

Player of the game:
Carmelo Anthony: 39 PTS, 12-26 FGM, 46 FG%, 2-6 3PM, 13-17 FTM, 10 REB, 2 AST, 1 STL, 3 TOV

Earlier in the day, Anthony described the game as “almost a must-win” for the team. He backed that up with 10 rebounds, while the Knicks benefited from Dwight Howard fouling out in overtime. Howard, who also received his NBA-leading 17th technical foul, had 29 points and 18 rebounds but couldn’t help Orlando once he fouled out.

Amar’e Stoudemire added 20 points as the Knicks secured just their second win in 11 games, moving closer to their first playoff appearance since 2004. Orlando, unable to score after Howard’s exit, fell short in the extra period.
