Hell ya. Huge steal for us. This will allow AD more minutes at the 4

Pray this guy is usable and Hayes continues to get better

He’s a project but I think he can play NBA level defense, especially compared to other options after Hayes at Center. He needs to really work on his offense.

I think he will be option after Hayes this season, because I think Hayes will leave/we should probably move on from him.

Im hyped for koloko but why did we have to waive blake hinson?

If you look at our issues last year it was the bench not being able to maintain leads. Our starting 5 was top 5 in the league it’s just the bench sucked ass. Part of that was because there was no rim protection when AD was resting, this guy offers that and gives AD more rest to come in and really be more effective instead of playing tired. Remember, our starting 5 out scored Denver’s starting 5 in the playoffs, the Nuggets continue to beat us on bench points and that’s really the only issue if you look at the detailed stats.

Koloko is also one hell of a lob threat and can also be used situationally depending on who we are playing. We can put him in on guys like Sabonis and Jokic and slide over AD at the 4 and Lebron at the 3 for certain matchups only.

Don’t expect us to play Koloko next to AD regularly. It will create huge problems against smaller teams, Lebron isn’t going to run around chasing guys at the 3 and Koloko and AD on the floor creates spacing issues in general but there are ways to scheme to get guys open like the Warriors always have 1 to 2 screeners for Curry and other shooters.

The point is this provides options we did not have before, he’s a legit 7’1 and protects the rim WITHOUT fouling. Guys like Bamba couldn’t play defense without giving up free throws which is why he couldn’t stay on the court. Koloko has very good fundamentals and knows schemes, there are videos on Youtube showing his situational awareness regarding where to position himself depending on what the offense is running. He’s a very good signing, the only thing better would have been if we got someone exactly like him that could shoot the 3 but that would gut our team. We essentially Walker Kessler for free and before you say Walker Kessler is a better player – look at the depth chart for the Jazz, they have John Collins starting over him who is pretty mid.

Christian Koloko was 3rd best on the Raptors in net points scoring margin on and off the court [https://stats.inpredictable.com/nba/onoff.php?season=2022&team=TOR&pos=ALL&po=0&frdt=2022-10-18&todt=2023-06-12&rate=tot&grp=1&mpos=100&sort=son_om&order=DESC](https://stats.inpredictable.com/nba/onoff.php?season=2022&team=TOR&pos=ALL&po=0&frdt=2022-10-18&todt=2023-06-12&rate=tot&grp=1&mpos=100&sort=son_om&order=DESC)

If that’s not going to convince you that this was a great signing here is the real hidden stat.

Christian Koloko was 6th best in the league in points margin on and off the court amongst all Centers at +157 [https://stats.inpredictable.com/nba/onoff.php?season=2022&pos=C&team=ALL&po=0&frdt=2022-10-18&todt=2023-06-12&mpos=100&rate=tot&sort=son_om&order=DESC](https://stats.inpredictable.com/nba/onoff.php?season=2022&pos=C&team=ALL&po=0&frdt=2022-10-18&todt=2023-06-12&mpos=100&rate=tot&sort=son_om&order=DESC)

Walker Kessler was only +55. Fucking Jakob Poetl is only +128.

That’s net point differential which is the ultimate stat for nerds who look at which playoff teams to take seriously.

If you run it per 100 possessions he jumps to 4th best center in the league in net point differential!
