Do The Nuggets Have Any Hope of Winning the West This Season?

Do The Nuggets Have Any Hope of Winning the West This Season?

The Nuggets have been largely dismissed as top-of-the-line contenders in the Western Conference but is this a fair assessment of the team? As we are gearing up towards training camp, how can the Nuggets attack the early part of this season to set themselves up for success?

Coach Malone was recently ranked among his head coaching peers in CBS Sports article recently and you might be surprised to find out where he stands.

  1. No, the team will not win the Western Conference unless there are a lot of injuries. Their biggest threats are the Timberwolves, Thunder, and Mavericks. I doubt that Malone will ever be considered a top 5 or top 15 coach. I don't think Malone is that great of a coach, and Jokic has to make up for many of his awful coaching decisions.

  2. We’re probably better off underrated and written off. Historically league wide attention and great Nuggets teams don’t mesh well re: playoff success.

  3. I’m optimistic with the additions and having a step up by the youth. As far as Malone goes, he should definitely be ranked higher. The culture he developed and you can point to the fact that a lot of the NBA is copying the Nuggets (right?). Thanks

  4. Of course they do. They’re literally 2nd best odds to win the west and 5th to win title (but would be favored head to head in the finals vs anyone besides MAYBE Celtics who they were 2-0 vs last yr).

They’re essentially the 3rd best title odds to win. If they’re 100% healthy im taking them to beat anyone in 7 games.

  5. I don’t get how losing KCP takes us out of contention but they never wanted to give KCP all defensive credit

  6. The Wolves winning is a pipe dream. OKC is NOT the best in the West. Dallas beat both of them with an injured Lulka. Now they have Klay, Marshall and Grimes? Assuming no major injuries, Dallas is easily going to be the team to beat.

I'm hoping Braun takes a step up because Russ could be a great spark off the bench. But if they have to lean on him as a main cog, I think they're screwed. MPJ is the key. He can be a 25ppg scorer, but he also showed he can disappear when it matters. It's going to depend on how he plays this year.

  7. The year Denver won in 2023 they had in reality best starting 8 but after trading Bruce B and Jeff last year Denver N and even Mainstream M are trying to sell us story about best starting 5.

So SWIPA this year are trying to sell us on best starting 4 hahaha..

Lets face it this year will be a disaster and next year after you lose AG i dont see a reason of keeping Jokic in Denver anymore after project dynasty kick in witch is dead on arrival ..

  8. Better win it this year, there is basically no chance with 3 guys getting paid over $140 million next year. Even if Jokic is probably underpaid the other 2 of them are way overpaid and will have to push their bodies close to injury nightly to make them worth their deals.

  9. Nobody ever wants to hold the NBA’s oligarchs responsible for the league prioritizing profits over sports competition. The CBA will completely waste the best player in basketball. Our local oligarch has so much money, he could pay any salaries needed, and his decedents will live off his money for generations. This is turning into a bad joke! 🙃🙃🙃
