Spree tried to face down them folks over a contract dispute and never played again. In my opinion, he was definitely worth more than the $7M/yr he was being offered in 2000s money. Probably felt after all that time, he should still feel grateful to be in the NBA, after choking PJ’s bytch azz out.
I knew a dude who played HS ball with a cat who went to Seton Hall, when PJ coached there. Said he was an ultra azzhole with a horrible temper. Spree was still cooking dudes who made more, when he played in Minnesota. He wasn’t in his prime anymore, but he could still give you 15/16 ppg and high energy.
PJ Carlesimo thought he was running a plantation and he had to break Spree like Toby. He had that same mindset as Bobby Knight. At least Bobby was smart enough to stay in college coaching kids.
