Brown’s been dealing with his knee injury since before the trade to Toronto. Clearly, he hoped it would improve with rest/rehab over the summer. Timing for surgery isn’t ideal and means he’ll get a late start to his contract season.

How much worse is the Siakam trade if the Raps aren’t able to get anything out of Brown as an asset?
Could the Raptors not get Buddy Heild back in that trade? Or even Toppin? Didn’t they trade BH right after to the Sixers?
I still think what people don’t realize with siakam is that he could just sign there in the summer and they were the only place ready to pay him, we got 4 picks and a tradable asset it, doesn’t seem like much but I just don’t think there was better out there

Hoping Brown has a speedy/healthy recovery.
So the Siakam trade now has essentially become:
Raptors send out: Siakam, Koloko
Raptors receive: Kelly Olynyk, Ochai Agbaji, Bruce Brown, Kira Lewis, #19 2024 (Ja’Kobe Walter), and Pacers 2026 FRP Top 4 protected.
When you parse it down to the assets that will actually mean something to our roster beyond this season (I assume Agbaji, Brown, Lewis will be out of the league or minimum players after this year), the trade becomes Siakam and Koloko for:
Olynyk, Walter, and a 2026 Top 4 protected Pacers FRP.
This is legitimately close to being as bad as the Vince Carter trade. The only positive thing to come out of that trade was that one of the two FRPs became Joey Graham who was a solid bench player for 4 years for us.
I would probably rather have Koloko over Olynyk straight up at this stage of their careers (especially given the contract context), so Olynyk isn’t really a meaningful positive. It’s really just hope that Walter becomes a real NBA player and whatever the 2026 pick becomes. This trade could still be worse than the Carter trade.
Curious when his surgery is scheduled for? Like when would he be expected to have recovered?
