They showed last year how much they missed him when he was wasn’t playing he might not have the best contract but he definitely helps the Raptors who are missing a good big men

Keep him and have him to develop everyone’s game

The Raptors have a young core of Barnes, Barrett and Quickly. They are clearly going to see how this trio with supporting players can develop.
It’s not something most Raptors are super excited about because they are all viewed as 2nd and 3rd option types; but it’s clear that the front office is going to try rolling with this team.
We finally have a backup PG and a true starting C after all these years.
I think it plays out to a 35 win team this year with plenty of ups and downs, right on the verge of the bubble and the 10th overall pick.

Might as well keep him since they won’t be doing much better at the center position via trade.

He has tantalized at times .. not a lot mind you … with his body control for streaking layups. His bunnies are a mess. His conditioning and strength was not good BUT he sure did leak leaner and meaner from summer.
Here’s hoping what’s missing has been chemistry with the new core. They have had little opportunity to be together (injuries, trades, attitudes and confusion)
Need another center s back up

The most important reason Yak is on the Raptors is because having a starting caliber C allows them to play in a proper team context. Scottie won’t have to bang with the opposing 5, like he’s done when he’s the biggest guy on the court. Other players can stunt and hedge with actual size and rim protection behind them. He’s near top of the league in the dunker’s spot and around the rim (top NBA in FG%), and so on.
People need to get over this. IF they trade Yak, they’ll just need to find another starting 5. He’s the 19th highest paid guy in the league for his position, a deal he signed before this year’s inflation and the contract is aging well.

I’d listen to trade offers for anyone on the team except for Scottie.
If there’s a team willing to give up the farm for Poeltl, do it! Otherwise, don’t 🤷♂️

I’ve talked alot of shit about him but we need him he’s crucial for us

He needs to be the veteran presence for the team. We sadly, don’t really have any at the moment.
