I’m glad Kerr mentioned he will really look at camp to see how things play out. I prefer the coaching staff come with an open mind on the 2 and 3 spot while not having their decision making be influenced by contract politics.
I think there are some guys right now that fit better with a curry/dray/TJD lineup than others, but if someone comes to camp looking good and improved aspects to their game that fits with those three, hoping they get a fair shot

This is an important point in the Warriors trajectory.
If Kerr and JK can get on the same page and help develop JK into the next true scoring strength of the team, it could go a long way toward everything we are looking for, both this year and the decade to come!
JK is working hard. He is smart. He is only 21 and has been maturing considerably.
Kerr wants to help him take the next BIG step!
All positive signs for the Dubs!
Let’s Go!!!

Kuminga plainly says he is a SF and Kerr is more dubious on it. Probably not good to be misaligned there. Kuminga not seeing himself as a 4 is actually pretty damaging because he has the body to rebound and defend the interior but he just does not want to do it. He isn’t remotely a good enough shooter to be a full time SF. And Kerr is talking about he can be a SF with a front court that has spacing, but we have the worst front court in the NBA when it comes to shooting.

So what wins here? It’s either dray is a center or kuminga is off the bench. Both will be polarizing in their own ways

JK is such a challenging fit on this team the more i think about it. If he can become a reliable shooter that solves basically everything.

Either Kuminga comes back improved in the areas Kerr highlighted at the end of the season or he doesn’t.
If he shows vast improvement, he’s the starting 3.
However, if he hasn’t improved, he’ll be an off-the-bench 4, and likely headed towards a trade.

Ideally Kerr would just come out and say “Well Kuminga better learn to shoot, because he’s our second scoring option and we will need to play him at the 3 a significant amount this season” instead of “I might start Kyle fucking Anderson, who doesn’t even shoot the three better than Kuminga, watch me do it!”

JK going “I’ve always been a 3” on that podcast was one of the dumbest things I’ve heard in a while.

As much as I love to watch JK on this team, just trade him. I get it. I really do. He’s not good enough to be the starting 3. Just PLEASE trade him. What I really don’t want to see for another year is the yo-yoing of minutes and roles. And the drama that’s going to create. We can all see where this is going. Just trade him. Moody too.
John_Houbolt
Every TJD/Dray minute is a bench minute for JK. That’s what I get out of that statement—unless he can shoot it at least as well as say, OPJ did.

andrew wiggins and kuminga perimeter shooting wasn’t really that different last season. wiggins would have good games every after 15 games meanwhile kuminga provides 16 at high efficiency heck he even went 20 with good efficiency for a month.
ImTheBestNerd
He can’t play the 3 next to Draymond unless one of them is spacing the floor reliably or we have a stretch 5. He can play the 3 next to a stretch 4 or 5.
Accomplished_Iron805
Teams are never going to guard Kuminga for his 3-point shot regardless of if he improves 3 ball because he much better at putting pressure on the rim. Either they find a center that can space the floor or trade Kuminga because he doesn’t fit the roster.
Hop830
Kerr just prefers smaller lineups. Why even beat around the bush. Last season we played more 3 guard lineups than any other team. I don’t expect that to change.

Is 35% good enough from 3?
harriedseldon
I think it’s more likely than not that Kuminga is off the team by the end of next season, and that it will quickly become apparent that Kerr never held back his development, just like he never held back Wiseman’s development
DXLXIII
He’s in year 4 and he still can’t play the SF position, the position he was drafted to play…
EquipmentNo9500
They should extend him now because he’s going to be a monster.

I can’t abide by Green TJD and Kuminga starting. The spacing will be prohibitively bad, IMO
