Zach Lowe asked JJ Redick about Anthony Davis’ Bubble Shooting, what happened there, and whether AD just lives in the paint now. Redick responded with: “I have a theory on that. One that I’m not willing to share right now. But I will if I’m right.” 👀

At this point it was an outlier year. Go get a WCJ type big to play next to AD or just keep AD at the 5. You can’t destroy your spacing

    sight-lines, weight/muscle correlation, scheme

Maybe if Anthony Davis shot as many practice shots as Kobe did in a day *he’d be a monster*. These dudes don’t practice anymore.

We all have our theories, but I think JJ’s hinges on AD’s performance this season. JJ likely knows that Ham tried to get AD to shoot more threes last season, but AD resisted. I suspect JJ is also trying to encourage AD to take more threes, and if it works, JJ will know his theory was right. Essentially, JJ’s theory is about making AD more coachable.

Last year, in a preseason interview, Ham mentioned he asked AD to shoot six threes per game but added, ‘But I know he won’t do that.’ That’s where Ham’s approach faltered—by predicting AD wouldn’t follow through, he gave him an out.

Lakers film room pod talked about this awhile
Back…they think it’s because he’s mainly at center now, he takes majority of his shots in the paint.

Well, to actually improve your mid range and three point range…you have to actually take them in game and work through the process.

Being good in the practice room is one thing, but doing them live is another. His shots outside the paint dropped significantly since he became our primary center.

He’s gonna have to actually take a decent amount of jumpers in game to get that touch back.

Lebron and Kobe are geniuses in this aspect. To many, they may take what looks like inefficient or maybe even bad shots at times, but you need to get the reps in. In the playoffs, you’re not always gonna be able to get the easiest shot possible. Better to get a feel for those shots in the regular season and have that in your back pocket when playoffs come around.

Theory. AD had to expel way less on defense since we had guys who could actually help out on D that season.

Ok i’m already having a bad feeling about this. Ham would say similar shit.
