I really think Paulo is going to be something special. He’s such a beast and seems to be a genuinely nice guy.

  2. VulgarDaisies

    Scottie/RJ/IQ > Paolo/Wagner/Suggs imo

Magic have the better overall roster at the moment though. KCP was a great win-now move, edges out a healthy Brown. Yak and Carter are very different, the former is much better defensively the latter has a more diverse offensive game.

Magic 5 is better than our 5. But it is slightly better not significantly like some NBA fans think it is. Magic record will be better than our mostly due to their good depth Vs our poor depth (poor depth by design to try and build a young bench mob).

    IQ > Suggs
    Dick < KCP
    RJ > Wagner
SB – Paulo (IMO these two are on level playing field)
Jakob – Carter Jr. (This could really go either way as well)

I think IQ and RJ’s combined talent is greater than the combined talent of Suggs and Wagner, but this year any of those four players could take a big step forward in their game.

So really in my opinion when it’s said and done, it’s all on Dick to grow.

  5. FurtherUpheaval

Obviously, they finished 5th in the conference last year

  6. Rare-Profile6867

Magic made the playoffs we were a tanking team

  7. iNeedMaSmokesBabe

Magic, and I honestly think it’s not even close.

  8. BronBronBall

Orlando’s defensive potential is just so much higher.

  9. Afrothunderzz

Orlando is better, they just showed it last playoffs

  10. prodigus01

Over the course of last year I’ve noticed our fanbase convincing themselves that we are better or the same tier as the magic.

It’s not true. We lost like 15 games in a row last year and they were a top 5 seed.

Until our core can prove they can win, they are easily a tier above us.

  11. MrAnder5on

Well considering they went to the playoffs

    I’m going to say better.

    Scottie > Paolo though

  12. I’m still not sold on Orlando (they shoot like shit), so this season will tell us.

Dare I say that they were very 21/22 Raptors last year?

    2021 Raps:

    20th PPG, 7th Opp PPG
    Pace 27th, SRS 11th
Off rtg 14. Def 10. Net rtg 11
    Expected w/l 47-35

    2023 Magic

    24th PPG, 4th Opp. PPG
    Pace 25th, SRS 16th
Off rtg 22nd, Def rtg 2nd. Net rtg 15th
    Expected W/L 46-36.

That defense slips a little and…they are 2022 Raptors. But I can also see their offense improving, so maybe not. Just not sold yet.

Way better, this magic team will be slept on. They have depth and good starters

  14. chopsquad420

still need a pg they are a good team, but they got couple ball stoppers in that line up

  15. demarderollins

Honestly they’re significantly better than us. I love the potential of our guys but they haven’t shown the fight that this group has + they added KCP

  16. brown_boognish_pants

They are much better. But by the end of this season heading into next season maybe we can close the gap a little? Maybe Scottie can start to work out with the new system and Masai can trade him for first round picks. That will def improve us.

  17. beefJeRKy-LB

Jalen Suggs is better than IQ by a good margin IMO. His defense is insane. Franz is better than RJ and more versatile especially if his shot regresses back to his averages. Paolo is probably better than Scottie in half-court situations and behind in others. WCJ and Poeltl are roughly the same level. And KCP is a lot better than anyone else who rounds out the starting 5 (Dick, Agbaji, other)

  18. cleanscotch

Kinda question is this lmao we need to get a grip here guys

  19. TrueTorontoFan

They are in the top 6 without question and can reach maybe as high as 4 this season depending on a bunch of factors.

  20. TheOtherSide999

Wagner makes this line up so much better

  21. AngryHelicopter

The Raptors four best players are comparably talented to the Magic’s four best players, but for the Raptors, the drop off after the top four is massive.

  22. Until we prove otherwise we’re still a play-in tier team

  23. MortimerCanon

If the Raptors win over 35 games I will be very surprised. I know everyone loves Scottie and apparently IQ is suddenly on All Star now.

But this team’s defense will be ugly to watch and they have terrible spacing. Things will be rough

  24. Mike_0405

I felt raptors were better when our rosters were healthy after trade deadline.

  25. SlapThatAce

    Better for the following reasons.

Scotty:  can’t get back on d because he is too busy complaining to the refs

Dick: the blind Sniper. Can’t shoot

Jak: is a duck out of water. Can’t shoot

IQ: is as consistent as Mexican burritos

RJ: man is good, got nothing bad to say about him

  26. vaalbarag

I don’t think their starting 5 is hugely better than ours… at four positions it’s pretty close… I’d put Banchero/Scottie, Suggs/Quickley, Barrett/KCP, and Carter/Poeltl all on the same tier. Dick is a few tiers under Wagner for now. I also think the fit is better on the Magic. But their bench blows ours out of the water.

  27. fatherofhooligans

Scottie and Paolo are same tier

IQ and Sugss are same tier – exceling at different aspects of the game

RJ is better than Franz right now

Yak and Wendell Carter are same tier

KCP is way better than Gradey

Beyond that, Orlando is better in just about everything…

So, our starting five might not be _that_ much worse than Orlando, our team as a whole sure is

  28. coveychrist

Watch out for Goga Bitadze this year too. Dude was amazing when he came over to Orlando and is a great defender and passer out of the C spot.

One of the players I wished the Raps picked up when he was waived by Indiana.

  29. Orlando’s got a better team / better depth. However I think starting 5s are almost equal if both sides were healthy. Both are young teams too so we’ll see who’s improved more over the off season.
