Lonnie Walker’s future with Boston Celtics: G League or NBA?

Lonnie Walker’s future with Boston Celtics: G League or NBA?

Lonnie Walker was a surprise signing for the Celtics and the initial reaction was that Brad Stevens has pulled off a bit of a coup. And because the contract wasn’t guaranteed, it was a no-risk move. But listening to Stevens and Walker talk this week, Walker’s role might be less than we expected … maybe even in the G League. You’ll hear from Stevens and Walker before John Karalis of Boston Sports Journal reacts and recalibrates his expectations. Also, Jayson Tatum’s jumper looks a little smoother!

  1. I hope Lonnie is able to impose himself and eventually take Pritchard's spot. Besides his half-court shots, Payton has proven over the last two postseasons that he can't be on the court when it matters

  2. I agree with John. It's baffling why his worth is so low in the league. Tyus Jones signed a 1 yr min deal with Phoenix, I also was surprised he was in a similar position as Walker. Good players but low value around the league apparently. Also Brad could be down playing the deal knowing he has a new secret weapon.
If you watched Walker play against the celtics last season he lit them up, definitely was auditioning.
I'm also shocked he would go to g league.

  3. I mean based on the numbers he’s better than jaden springer, jd davidson, walsh, maybe even payton pritchard. For such a cheap contract theres no reason to not take him

  4. I'd keep Walker and trade Pritchard by the deadline. They have to start cutting salaries, so they might as well start now.

  5. I believe Walker will become an important part of the rotation-brings a lot to the table. And honestly Brad is Mr. Monotone-doesn't get too excited about anything. I'm wondering wtf is going through Oshae's head and why is he waiting so long to sign somewhere? Or is it that he's valuing himself too high. Anyway thanks John. ☘🔒

  6. This seems scripted and Lonnie Walker is actually part of it aside from Joe and Brad. They're sending a message and trying to keep everyone hungry and aggressive and of the same mindset that everyone has a role to play and give it their all in those roles for the Cs to remain competitive in their quest for banner 19. At this point, I still believe, unless some unexpected circumstance comes up, that Lonnie Walker IV will secure that 15th spot on the Cs roster.

  7. I like that both Joe and Brad have such great attitudes. I find it refreshing after the recent antics of 🤡Kyrie, 🤡Harden, and 🤡Simmons.
I had to stop your image to take a closer look at your shirt. Interesting take on the NBA logo!😂

  8. PP and Hausemoney are great bench players, but they aren't pure consistent scorers. Not to say they can't be, but Lonnie Walker is, hes important we need him to get that 15th spot. Him, pp and hauser would be fire together, no Bs

  9. Maybe it’s tin foil hat-y but I think they’re just trying to make it seem like a true exhibit 10 to stave off any concerns/audits from what it actually is…a circumvention of the CBA to get Lonnie more than Vet’s min once he inevitably joins the final roster. – Lonnie just seems WAY too good and young for other teams not to have taken a flyer…

  10. Walker is 3X better than Oshae Brisset. He deserves the 15th spot. I also think Anton Watson and even Drew Peterson are better than Walsh and are more deserving.

  11. From the outside it sounds like Drew and Derrick are sticking up for their boy and I doubt we need him but I feel like the Celtics even just looking at him will allow him to find a place on another team…
