I say this as someone who listens to a ton of podcasts, and watches a bunch as well.

Its incredibly difficult to have an interesting free flowing conversation for an 10 minutes, let alone an hour.

You need pre planned topics to hit, and riff off those, while always getting back to next topic. It allows you to cut up your videos into smaller more digestible clips, and can if done correctly, give you edit points.

There are so many podcasts with people that talk and entertain for a living, and they have a rundown to follow. I mean no offence at all, but the chances you and other small time (not an insult) local media are interesting enough to carry an hour is beyond unlikely. They way your videos are usually structured is you (and most other Rockets pods) just go. No clean intro, not visual list of what you will talk about, nothing. You can’t expect people to watch or listen to the whole hour, even mega popular pods talk about how people usually listen for about 20-30 minutes, and for you, I have no idea what you will be discussing so its not “worth it” to just hope two dudes cutting it up will be entertaining.

It should be, IMO, something like this.

    1. Hi everyone welcome to “X”, I’m here with “Y”.
    2. Today we are going to be discussing A, B, C, D, E.
    3. Hit on topic A, but first lay out your take, defend it, have the other person say their opinion. Now you have a conversation, you can riff on that, but if I don’t care about this, I can skip to topic C that I did find interesting.
    4. Move to topic B and repeat until done.
    5. Post the whole pod, and clips A, B, C, D, and E individually.

For real, I respect the grind, but so few people can have a mic in front of them and “just go”, its a million dollar skill, for everyone else, you need to plan and edit.
