Knicks Making MORE Moves…

The New York Knicks have made more moves, waiving both Marcus Morris and Chuma Okeke in a move that solidifies the contract of Landry Shamet, who will replace Donte Divincenzo as the shooter off the bench. Chris Gallagher breaks this all down, discusses who will get that 14th roster spot with only 13 spots guaranteed right now, and why he believes it will be Huckporti.

  1. Mikal Nrodges cannot play the four. OG Anunoby is strong but he cannot play the four. This guy is buggin’

  2. Ok,we look good as a starting team but,the bench is weak. Mc bride…..who else Landry Shamet? We get killed on bench

  3. KAT for Randle would only make sense without money. Add Donte and a 1st rd pick that conveys in 3 years, nahhhhh. We got fleeced Brooklyn style. Copium. It feels like Dolan is back in the decision room.

  4. The Knicks got good players thinking they're great, with a 5'10" first option guard and a warden as a head coach……………lucky to finish 4 or 5 in the east…

  5. I am with you! I am all Knicks but when the trade happen, I was sad. Really wanted the opportunity to run it back with the squad. Health was our biggest opponent, not any team out there. If we were healthy last season, eastern conference finals would have been the floor… so I wasn’t happy on the KAT deal either but this is our NY Knicks going forward and I’m all in!!!

  6. Players like Shamet could be a big x factor when they are on a team like the Knicks. All he has to do is pay decent defense and hit his open shots if he plays…

  7. There was a center in summer league, a Ukrainian guy, who showed a lot of promise. I can't recall his name but he was impressive enough to give a 2nd look to

  8. MY KNICKS SOUL AS A FAN HAS BEEN DAMAGED.

It truly felt like something special was brewing for the first time in my life; one which already has actually seen 2 Knicks finals appearances; but they weren't it, this was different, & it was really happening for the NYK!

Chemistry, a sense of loyalty, family, love, strength, humility, Class, work ethic, Will, GRIT, & NEW YORK. The Knicks had given a face and name to the very essence of the combination of these things. NOVA-KNICKS, & next man up; A Whole which was greater than the sum of its parts. That's what our Knicks had come to represent in just over 2 quick seasons.

Then… they go for a big swing, reminiscent of the Knicks of old, which gutted a team for Melo, only to make 1 meaningful playoff run in his Knicks career on a team which would prove shattered by lack of depth, trade assets, and financial flexibility (sound familiar). This time its worse, It kinda feels like tossing away your dog for a new girlfriend you hardly know, right after a bad breakup.

The Knicks absolutely gave away too much in the trade. With Dvo, the flexibility he created was critical both on a nightly basis, and in the event of injury. Analysts are way off base when they say there's only 15mins a game for him…he would have easily hit 25-28mins as a backup to 3 positions, clutch shooter & closer.

The Knicks were in a position where they only needed a C, & they had depth at every other position with star level players. Had the Knicks waited until the trade deadline, they could have easily traded for someone serviceable to fill the void using deuce and the pick, buyout market, FA's, etc.

So if the problem in all this was Randle and his expiring contract, Knicks should have drew a hard line and made the trade exclusively around Mitch & Randle for KAT. We have to address the elephant in the room which I don't think I've heard much of, and that is the fact that MIN was nearly about to collapse with its own financial woes, and that's actually a well documented fact, so getting off the lux tax at the 2nd apron and maintaining a competitive team with flexibility was to be an enormously difficult task for them, thus making it incredibly foolish to walk away from any such trade which might allow that happen. So Even though MIN has no place for mitch, he'd still be highly valuable to them as an expiring contract @ 2 yrs, or otherwise as a trade chip.

If MIN said no to that trade, then Knicks roll with what they have, and revisit options later, simple as that.

KAT is a great player, this trade however, was not great. Knicks blew this one.

I hope the Knicks come out the better for all this, but its hard to imagine my passion for the team ever will.

  9. Randle was a FA after we traded KP to Mavs for peanuts. Boston gets KP in a trade with Washington for peanuts. Knicks could have easily required KP last season without trading away assets like Donte and Randle. Bad trade for us.KAT is a cat. We need dogs. DIVO 's a pitbull and has the heart of a lion. Randle is all about team first as well and a true leader.
I like Kat but that was the wrong package to give up. We lost IHART for zero. Every other team seems to get back assets while we lose them for basically nothing. Even JRUE HOLIDAY was acquired for little in return. Us Knicks have traded alk our cap space and draft picks and still have only 1 borderline Super star

  10. the trade could be good, however i would have let the team play as it was til the all star break. shame. i hope towns goes back to his pre gobert style

  11. Tyler Koleck will not play this season or next season at all. Cam Payne will play over him.

  12. Thibs won’t start Deuce over Josh Hart to start the season. Plus he likes Deuce to back up Brunson. He doesn’t know Cam Payne or Tyler Koleck so he doesn’t trust them.
Payne is vet so he has a advantage over Koleck

  13. this move was unexpected and disappointing. Leon has made all the right moves, and I hope this is another one. I really feel bad for Randle becase say what you want he gave his all to the Knicks when we sucked and now that things are looking up he's gone it's a reminder that it's a business and the hell with loyalty. This season won't be a success if we don't at least make it to the finals.

  14. I still don't know why they didn't give Skapintsev a chance. The kid could ball and be the answer to many of these problems.

  15. If you the Knicks, this is crazy. Now you got cat. Took a big chunk out of your money you gotta add players swap players trade players give up two players just to build the money revenue back up.

  16. Getting cat took a big revenue out Knicks money. now they gotta recover some of that money back by giving up two players added players swapping players. stuff confused can’t even do math

  17. You're completely forgetting Kolek! Even though Thibs hates playing rookies, this kid needs to see some action, even with the 1's.
