What Happened to Talen Horton-Tucker?

What Happened to Talen Horton-Tucker?

Talen Horton-Tucker went from being touted as a future star for the Los Angeles Lakers to most recently signing a 1-year deal with the Chicago Bulls. The former second-round pick from the 2019 NBA Draft has had a bizarre career trajectory that’s been marked by his inclusion in nearly every single Los Angeles Lakers trade rumor since 2019.

Ultimately, the Lakers ended up trading Talen Horton-Tucker to the Utah Jazz, where he spent two years before moving on to the Chicago Bulls this offseason.

But how good was Talen Horton-Tucker, and was it ever good enough for him to be put in some of the young player conversations that he was included? Was he ever actually one of the NBA’s best young players, or was it just the Lakers using smoke and mirrors?

  1. The guy loves playing 1v1 most of the time and wants the coach attentions so he can steal mins off other guys so he could start

But he did start but it was hard watching him canโ€™t lie

  2. As a laker fan who watched the lakers closely. I was so confused what rob pelinka saw on these guy the only upside i was seeing is his fancy layups. Still mad that they let caruso go to save money and pay THT

  3. That's what's happening with Austin Reaves right now even though he is better than Talen Horton tucker.

  4. He was a flashy scorer sometimes, that's why. He reminds me of Shannon Brown on LA, but instead of dunking, he dribbles and does layups.

  5. i will never forget lakers fans and players, especially kyle kuzma, saying that he was as good and could be better than anthony edwards lol.

  6. It was just Lakers fans overhyping another player for no reason. Nothing else to it, same thing is happening with Bronny as we speak

  7. He shouldโ€™ve stayed at iowa state at least until Junior year ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ

  8. Lol not a hyped up trade piece his trade value wouldโ€™ve been based on him developing a jump shot n if he had, you put that with a top 30 fg% on drives n heโ€™s averaging 20+ ppg

  9. what? all new Lakers lottery picks & trade acquisitions are hyped (esp. in Lebron's era). that's a given. regardless of how good or mediocre they are in reality (most are role players at best). they're hypin up players like kentavious caldwell pope, alex caruso, talen horton-tucker, austin reeves, tuscano anderson, hachimura, gabe vincent, bronny james.. These are good players to say the least but they should be nowhere as celebrated if they're in, say, Memphis, or New Orleans.. well except probably bronny james. lol.

  10. I'll help you out here, the reason the Lakers stuck with THT was because LeGM thought he was the next big thing

  11. Once he got the hype he started ball hogging and won't facilitate, he always drives inside even if it's difficult to score he cannot see his teammates outside who are ready to shoot

  12. We knew, here in Celtics land, that THT was being overhyped by the Lakers. He was a credible player who was sold high, as in 'high value.' I don't blame the Lakeshow for trying. It's part of the business.

  13. He is represented by klutch sports and the lakers/lebron let him use the team as a try out.

  14. THT has been underutilized 100%, he has the ability to be in the same category as DRAYMOND
    GREEN, HARRISON
    BARNES, DESMOND
    BANE, JALEN
    WILLIAMS, GRANT
WILLIAMS or a mid prime BEN
    SIMMONSโ€ฆ

  15. It's really sad lakers gave up caruso for tucker thinking he was much younger and had more potential than caruso. One of many mistakes of rob pelinka after lakers won the chip.

  16. Overhyped. You'd see glimpses of good but a shit ton of mediocrity and a handful of meh performances… Definately not a star could maybe become a decent role player.

  17. Someone should ask LeCap this year to see if he "remembers" seeing THT in high school. this time he'll say he caught every home game

  18. As someone that followed lakers , he was pretty young with great strength in a good lakers team .
Yes we all thought he will be great

  19. Iโ€™m a big laker fan and was on the tht hype train before it took off, that being said Iโ€™ve yet to see him make a left hand layup to this day. Bro would rather pump pump reverse step through and get blocked using his right when he had a wide open left hand lay

  20. THT was definitely love hate relationship but casuals never got over his post season performance. Hope heโ€™s doing well !

  21. I remember back then, those social media haters were saying they should had traded Bron away instead of THT and develop THT because he's younger.

Haterade or Lakers fan really something else.

  22. as a lakers fan, i was saying for the longest time he was not it. laker nation was going crazy for this guy tho.
