Him crying holding the basketball when we beat the Sonics is still in the top 5 Nuggets playoff moments, championship included

A better man than a player, and one great player at that. I’m glad he will be immortalized in our rafters forever.

Damn, didnā€™t realize he was sick. He passed away far too young and was such an amazing ambassador for this great game.

    Dang, my jaw just dropped.

Easily my favorite Nugget ever (besides Jokic). He along with the early-mid 90s Nuggets teams are what made me hooked on this team.

Dikembe clutching the ball lying on the court is still easily one of my favorite sports memories ever. The first #8 seed to beat a #1 seed.

And as great of a player as he was, an even better person off the court in helping others.

    RIP Mutombo

One of my favorite things about the dude is that he was a very sharp and smart man- dude spoke: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and five Central African languages, including Lingala and Tshiluba.

He was kind of a great fuck you to folks who doubted the character and mind of not just basketball players but Africans as well…

Everyone remembers Mutombo clutching the ball Game 5 against the Sonics. No one ever remembers that Mutombo hit a half-court shot at the buzzer right before OT. He didn’t get the shot off in time, but it was a helluva shot.

Back in the day, NBA teams needed that 7 footer in the middle to compete for championships. When the Nuggets drafted him, I was super excited to get the big man in the middle.

I still can’t stand Bernie Bickerstaff for letting Deke walk. Deke shoulda retired a Nugget.

    RIP, Mt. Mutombo.
