Damn, I just went looking through all my Mutombo cards this weekend. RIP Dikembe

  3. RIP 💔 Definitely not the news I wanted to see today

  4. This is quite a shock. RIP big man, fly high Hawks legend.

  5. About a decade ago, Dikembe’s father was getting treatment at the same dialysis center as my grandmother in Atlanta. One day when she was too weak to walk to her car, he was kind enough to offer to carry her to it. He was a truly kind man and an Atlanta legend. RIP Dikembe

  6. I saw Dikembe play once in Rhode Island when I was a teenager. He was in some ‘minor league’ basketball league ( way before he was in the NBA ). It was ridiculous how much better he was than anyone else on the court.

One of the greatest ever do it, man he will be missed

Damn, met him once when my uncle worked security at the old Omni. Super nice guy.

  9. Great player on the court, and seemed to be a better human being off of it.
Adopted his brother’s kids. Regularly involved in humanitarian work. And always had that infectious smile and laugh.

He use to shop at an office max I use to work at in Atlanta. He was a very niche guy. R.I.P. Mt. Mutumbo

I was always a huge fan of Mutombo. He was a great player (truly underrated in many respects), and by all accounts, an even better person. I’m sad for family and friends; he was loved all over the world.

    We’ll miss you, Dikembe!

Everybody go get checked out. Procrastination is the enemy.

I still remember going to one of the first games at Philips Arena…seeing him block Pippen like 2-3 times in a row and shaking his finger at him live and in person. He was so worthy of his nickname Mount Mutombo. He was an ENORMOUS human being, but also seemed like such a good natured man.

    RIP.

What an absolute legend.  He visited my high school while he was with the Hawks and I was star struck.  Dude is an absolute legend.  Rest in Power

  22. I remember a few years ago when I was at the b dubs at Cumberland one night and mutumbo came in to pick up his food and while some people got pics with him most of us in there just left him alone and let him go about life
