    That’s so fucked

Dikembe was literally at every NBA event promoting the game … You could tell he loved it and how the game was growing in Africa

    No, no, no!

RIP to a legend. My favorite story about him is that he once walked into a nightclub and yelled out “Who wants to sex Mutombo?”

The closest thing to a real life Groot that this world will ever have. Rest in Peace, legend!

  4. I never realized he was only 58. I thought he was way older. Way to young to pass away. Fuck Cancer.

  5. kurapikas-wife

Damn rest in peace. Lost my brother to brain cancer, it’s a hard disease. I hope his family is hanging in there

Damn RIP. One of the most positive people to play in the NBA. May have made even more impact off the court with all his charity work.

  7. This fucking sucks. That’s way too young to die.

Man cannot fly in the House of Mutombo 🙁

What a terrible world we live in when people like Dikembe who devoted so much time, money, and effort into uplifting those less fortunate can be taken away too soon. Yet it seems like those who take like parasites and destroy everything live well into their 70s and beyond.

You have to be one hell of a nice guy for the NBA to essentially create a carve out in their rule set so you can talk shit.

    Rest easy sir.

Petition to allow him to replace St. Peter with the Mutombo Finger Wag denying people entrance to heaven

Noooooo, damn it I hate cancer. I always have a soft spot for that 94 nuggets team. Bison, Stith, Mutombo, Pack, Abdul Rahul and Ellis. Such a fun team.

Much less famous, but journeyman Joe Wolf also died last week in his late 50s. So sad

  14. Dude.
No. No no no. Not like this.
Farewell Deke. Houston, and the NBA community loved you. What an amazing human

As a 90s NBA fan growing up this hurts, I hate this.

    Fuck.

  15. RIP dikembe

My toddler loves a song that goes “no no no no no dikembe mutombo “ and says it constantly

What a loss. One of the most memorable NBA personalities in the league history. A phenomenal player and great ambassador for the sport. He’s gonna have a long lasting legacy, but I wish his family nothing but the best in the coming days.

Ugh. This is such a shame.

I lost a family member to brain cancer 2 months ago – it’s such a terrible disease.

Him and AI were my first and favorite duo in the NBA…

I still finger wag till this day, RIP to a legend

  21. About a decade ago, Dikembe’s father was getting treatment at the same dialysis center as my grandmother in Atlanta. One day when she was too weak to walk to her car, he was kind enough to offer to carry her to it. He was a truly kind man and an Atlanta legend. RIP Dikembe

  22. adminsarebiggay

Holy shit .. my dad painted his house years ago when he was with Atlanta hawks and he gave my dad a bunch of signed stuff for me

  23. Absolutely devastating that two of Africa’s most prominent NBA players, Dikembe and Manute Bol, died so young. Both were major humanitarians and always proud to rep their homelands. RIP.

  24. WackedBush343

    Bill Walton.

    Jerry West.

    Dikembe Mutombo.

Holy fucking hell. 2024 is turning out to be a brutal year of NBA legends passing away. 😢

  25. When someone mentions his name to me, I will always remember the ending to game 5 of the 1st round in the 1994 NBA Playoffs.

    Rest in peace.

EDIT: Thanks, u/Raticus9, for the correction
