The 2024-25 NBA season is getting underway with Dallas Mavericks media day! We heard from Mavs head coach Jason Kidd, Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, Dereck Lively, PJ Washington and more as the Mavs get set to defend their NBA Western Conference title. The big topic of Mavericks media day was the singing of Klay Thompson in 2024 NBA Free Agency, where Kyrie Irving and Jason Kidd both played a major part in recruiting. Other major notes: Dereck Lively will be in the Mavericks’ starting lineup this season replacing Daniel Gafford. Jason Kidd on Dereck Lively making the starting 5:
“There’s competition. When you talk about Gaf & D-Live, 48 minutes of rim protection, both offensively can catch the lob, if you ask Gaff & D-Live both can shoot threes. You also have DP at center and Maxi, It’s a healthy competition. We’re gonna start D-Live with the 1st group and see how that goes.”

“That was a big splash in the summertime. If you ask any of us we feel we got better as a team as a group that has leadership and experience.
