Charlotte is also trading James Nnaji – the No. 31 pick in the 2023 NBA draft – to New York to finalize the trade, sources tell me, @JonKrawczynski and @FredKatz

Assuming he’s more likely to come over from Europe now that he isn’t ”owned” by an awful franchise. Another athletic back-up big.

The 31st pick from a year ago seems like… not nothing? He’s 20 year old rim running center playing in Spain

Nice! Who knows if this turns into anything, but glad to get another big that’s still young and might actually come over in the next year or so.

Feverishly googles “James Nnaji Draft Profile”

  5. Neither-Operation

7’0 250lb from Nigeria.Didnt he play this past Olympics?

  6. “James Nnaji intended to make the leap to the NBA this summer, and Barça was counting on the departure of the Nigerian center, who would also have brought in some money in terms of a buyout since he has a contract until 2027. However, the back injury that forced him to undergo surgery a month and a half ago has disrupted the plans of both the player and the team, and it now appears that the center will stay at the Palau for the next season.”

We literally got the next Pau Gasol wow

  8. Let’s be real Thibs won’t let this man board a plane for half a decade

Another Rokas type of deal…however… For the record, he is a center!

Pretty sure he has been teammates with Rokas for the last few years.

A rim running 7′ C with 7’5″ WS. Always good to have plenty of talent especially if he doesn’t count against the cap.

Leon should check in on some of those guys on the South Sudan MNT that was surprising in the Olympics.

  12. Nti11matic

6’10” with a 7’5″ wingspan. Thought of to be one of the best defenders in his draft class.

Thibs just got another project to work on and he’s in the exact mold of what Thibs likes out of a center. He’s a nice “throw in” imo.

Can wait to watch this sub call for this guy to start over KAT as soon as he has a bad game without ever seeing him play!

  15. manfromfuture

YES. I’ve been saying we need more tall guys.

I’m very glad we kept Mitch. We have a sick starting five, but the style that won us playoff games these last couple of years (big, physical, dominate the offensive glass) is still there when we need it.

We can go 5-out with Brunson-Deuce-Bridges-OG-Towns and also go big and dominate the glass with Brunson-Bridges-Hart-Towns-Mitch.

The bench is also totally fine imo. Payne/Shamet/Hart/Precious/Mitch can more than hold their own in a 2nd unit.
