@New York Knicks

(Fred Katz) The Knicks have discovered a new loophole in the CBA. Teams in their situation cannot aggregate minimums anymore. So in the sign and trades of Jeffries, Brown and Washington, they are paying each of those guys just $1 above the minimum, league sources tell @TheAthletic .

  1. Freakin rose and Brock are continuously cooking. It’s like a 24 hour steakhouse

[Katz follows up; I have heard from various people that the league isn’t thrilled about this — but such is the way it goes with new CBAs. The NBA tries to close up loopholes and then smart people working for teams find new ones.](https://x.com/FredKatz/status/1841542867803897955)

And this is why they couldn’t have done this trade during the season, re: anyone who thought they should have waited to see how the team looked with Randle at the 5. It was either this, wait till next offseason, or include mitch in the deal

lmao fans of other teams have to be hating this

Get Brock Aller a statue ON TOP of MSG so everyone knows who he is

I used to pray for times like this

(having people who actually know what they’re doing in the FO)

I’d be shocked if, assuming we remain successful or better yet become a Finals team, Aller isn’t a full blown President or GM for a different franchise in the next 3-4 years. His navigation of the cap and the new CBA is truly unbelievable. Things like the KAT and Bridges deals shouldn’t work financially, and yet they do while keeping us under the 2nd apron.

True gremlin behavior lmaoooo I fucking love it

  9. CrossingYoulnStyle

They’re inventing ways to beat the salary cap on the fly this FO is absurd

Can someone help me verify I understand? So new cba says team can’t add a bunch of veteran minimum guys basically? Therefore we signed them to contacts one dollar above the minimum to circumvent?

Or am I not understanding at all?

As a Knicks fan, having a smart front office still feels foreign

This cap manoeuvering has sold me on this trade more than any other analysis.

Pay Brock Aller whatever he wants. I want him in NYC for a long time.

It’s all fair game. Knicks FO did their job

  16. CarmeloManning

NBA salary cap rules are so over regulated and over managed that it’s a joke.

  17. Other Teams have to hate this. This is like the Dodgers exploiting the deferment loophole in the current CBA that will def be closed next go around.

    It’s over
