Great show tonight 👍 😁. The media day was interesting. The young guys feel ready to carve new roles out for themselves, the vets know their duties could be elsewhere but are remaining in communication with management, Claxton and Thomas want to have big growth seasons and try to lead this new era….
However Cam Thomas made some bold proclamations today 😮:
1) Cam Thomas said he's unguardable and no one can stop him.
2) Cam Thomas told Frank Isola that he had fun getting his feet wet off the bench but never sees himself doing that again and wants to start for the rest of his career.
3) Cam Thomas in a backstage interview told the media he has nothing to prove 😮….
Thomas obviously has the confidence level of a 1000 and expects to take his offense to another level .But not sure management is excited about the fact Thomas says he has nothing to prove to the team when Jordi said that no one's roster spots are secured and everything has to be earned 😳….
Obviously Jordi wants Thomas to be more efficient and has a program for him to follow but it's going to be on Thomas to buy into the program and improve on his weaknesses to validate getting a new contract next season 😮. It'll be very interesting to see if Thomas can back up these proclamations or not 🧐…..
Sean Marks and Thomas seem to have some kind of beef. Marks has not said he's seen Thomas as a "primary" piece and hasn't given him any sort of validation on what he can bring to this team and tried to avoid talking about his contract situation. Thomas today replied that Sean Marks is looking for pieces to potentially keep during this rebuild and said he has nothing to prove to him 😮😨. Thomas possibly still resents Marks for the coaching staff he hired that didn't really develop him and kept staggering his minutes…
Hopefully after this season Cam and Marks can find a middle ground with each other on a new contract because right now on the surface level it seems like there is some friction there 😮….
If the collective strategy for the Nets players today regarding Ben Simmons was to build up his confidence and value by saying how important he is to their games that's a bold strategy for sure 😮….
Sean Marks might be hoping that if Ben Simmons can help raise the values of Cam Johnson Dorian Finney Smith Dennis Schroder and Bojan Bogdanovic while they in return help Simmons build his value up Marks could potentially pull off a solid firesale at the trade deadline to bring in even more draft capital 😁 😮….
Ziaire Williams and Noah Clowney having big growth seasons would be great for Brooklyn especially given the team wants to get bigger and as long as both of them keep improving defensively and making offensive strides Brooklyn will have two solid pieces going forward 👍….
