Can score anytime he wants but also has the ability to stop the opposing teams best player in crunch time.

Personally, this is my goat. I will be fielding any questions y’all may have.

Will always remember how salty Karl is about this moment in basketball 😆

Nick Wright: “Actually that wasn’t a steal and is blatant favoritism by the Utah scorers table!”

Even all these years later, every time I see what MJ does to Byron Russell, I think “probably shouldn’t have called him Michelle”….

I love how you can tell just from this clip at the end of MJ’s (real) career, just how overpowering and scary he was.

Down 3 in Game 7 of the Finals with 40 seconds left, give me the ball and I’ll take care of it, and he instantly scores a bucket.

I watched a lot of his 2nd 3 peat and the psychological edge he had over opponents is something I’ve never seen in any sport. Like I guarantee you after he hit that layup to cut it to 1, the Jazz knew they lost. Everyone watching including Stockton and Malone knew what was about to happen.

edit: Game 6 my bad, I done forgot

My GOAT! There is so much to dissect just in this 30 second clip that explains why the MJ vs LeBron debate isn’t even close. The Drive in 4 seconds sets up the rest of the game and B-Russ getting his ankles broke. Also to all the “he pushed him” people out there… seriously if that’s a push then you’re a piece of paper

    GOAT

Also all games should be shot like this

  9. geneticeffects

MJ was like a knife being present on the court. He would cut anybody up. Truly dominant, when he chose to be.

Mj was a one man show at this point.

Rodman was old and crazier while pippen was injured and pretty cooked.

How about those 5 seconds of defense after the shot tho I’m curious what shot the Jazz tried to get off

This is the first time I’ve watched this and came away feeling that turnover was more on Stockton than it was Malone… ideally he would have seen mj hanging in the paint, waited another click until mj has to leave to the corner or be called for illegal D, and then thrown the post entry.

Maybe too critical but, nba finals high stakes for an all timer, kind of a mistake imo.

So this angle of the steal made me think about the way the rules were at that time. Double teaming was only allowed in certain instances, and either near the basket or in the paint if my memory is right. Karl isn’t in the paint, so was MJ executing a legal or illegal double team there? Karl had just set a pick on MJ so him still being around Malone at that time is reasonable, and Russell is still in the frame, so it’s not like MJ was abandoning his man.

He’s just so sick lol. You know every Jazz fan could just feel it coming up 86-83

iconic push. so smooth no one would call it.

also haven’t heard enough of Stockton’s the historical leader is assists with that awful pass decision in the most important play of the game, maybe of his career.

Greatest sequence in NBA history by greatest player in NBA history. Literally couldn’t have scripted it any better. I watched this live as a 15 year old, what great memories.

  17. BobSlydell08

I miss before every game was 150 to 140

  18. SandGlokt

The greatest to ever do it. I don’t even see how anybody can debate it.

  19. AbstractFlag

People never talk about the fact that this has always been a Karl Malone chokejob.

  20. Walrus-Ready

It’s crazy that there was no help or double

  21. gottapeenow2

Jazz not sending any kind of double team or hedge on MJ is wildly dumb in hindsight. Just letting Russell get cooked 1v1 on back to back possessions for game time, man. I coach youth AAU and always send doubles at the other teams best player… “make someone else beat you” is a staple of coaching.

  22. Jameszhang73

Just another day at the office for MJ. No one was that surprised or even celebrated that much.

  23. PattyIceNY

Love this. On the first bucket he beats Russell *clean* to his right as soon as Russell went for the hand check. On the final play he overcompensates and then MJ drops the crossover and that’s a wrap.

  24. Wow Pippen looks so much taller than Jordan in this video. I always thought he was like an inch to inch and a half taller only. It looks at at least 2 inch here

  25. BugO_OEyes

That forst play was an and 1 in today’s game lol they might have to check monitors for intent on a flagrant 1

  26. ThaEyeTest

This is why he is the GOAT 🐐. Will his team to victory despite trailing in the last seconds of the Finals. Remember no Game 7s EVER!!!!

  27. persian_mamba

I always forget how much harder it was to score before all the hand check rules

  28. Practical_Meaning870

One of my earliest basketball memories. I remember being so mad that Jordan got away with a blatant push to Byron Russell’s thigh. I was a huge Jazz fan (because of NBA Jam) and Russell for sure would have locked MJ down on that possession (despite MJ dropping 40+).
