Just got in a conversation with my Uber driver — who was from the Dominican Republic — about the fact I cover the Celtics.

He pulled over because he got so overwhelmed at the fact I've spoken to Al Horford, saying "there are no words to describe what he means to us."

He also said that people in the DR are still talking about his visit with Joe Mazzulla last month, which I wrote about last week:

Should asked him about the KAT trade too, Celtics gonna have to fight those boys.

Imagine if you told them you covered Payton Pritchard

  3. Is this a copy pasta? I swear I have seen this somewhere about some other player.

Just got in a conversation with my Uber driver — who was from the Golden Corral — about the fact I cover the NFL. He pulled over because he got so overwhelmed at the fact I’ve spoken to Kelvin Benjamin, saying “there are no words to describe what he means to us.”

    The Dominican-Bostonian alliance remains strong

Just got in a conversation with my Uber driver — who was a complete fat ass — about the fact I cover the Panthers. He pulled over because he got so overwhelmed at the fact I’ve spoken to Kelvin Benjamin, saying “there are no words to describe what he means to us.”

Much love to him. There are no words to describe what he means to us too – all Celtics fans

[Dalzell] Just got in a conversation with my Uber driver — who night shifts at the local Waffle House — about the fact I cover the Pelicans. He pulled over because he got so overwhelmed at the fact I’ve spoken to Zion Williamson, saying “there are no words to describe what he means to us.”

*(it’s low hanging fruit but someone has to pick it)*

    Honestly, same.

You mean NBA Champion, future HOFer, Celtics legend Al Horford?

    Yeah. I do get it.

this is how people in Cameroon felt about Embiid before he decided to represent USA instead

Just got into a conversation with my Uber Driver — who has been unemployed for 10 years up to now — about the fact I cover the Bucks. He pulled over because he got so overwhelmed at the Fact that I’ve spoken to Thanasis Antetokounmpo, saying “there are no words to describe what he means to us (unemployed people).”

23 minutes in and every comment so far is just someone trying to be funny.

You guys are so fucking predicably boring.

    I seriously can’t tell what’s satire anymore.

  17. doshegotabootyshedo

I was just in the DR and not a single person mentioned Al Horford. What the fuck?!

  18. BasicChair420

Why did I think for a split second Al Horford died 😳

“He is the only one of us to make it out of MLB!”

This is an excellent copy pasta.

I lived in the Dominican Republic from 2007-2009 and they definitely loved Horford down there.

  22. Can definitely corroborate this as a Dominican (in NYC, not DR). One thing people are over-looking about the KAT trade is how much attention and revenue he could bring in as the first Dominican Knick.

There are more Dominicans living in NY than there are Dominicans living in DR’s literal capital city. Add in Puerto Ricans (we all support one another now, I fuckin love Alvarado) and ~1 in 4 people in the most populous city in the US are either Dominican or Puerto Rican. That’s a huge market!

I also imagine this’ll be great for KAT and making him feel appreciated and at-home.

This reminds me of a story I heard after Kobe died. A journalist was visiting China and was riding in a cab and when the driver heard they had met and spoken with Kobe they pulled over and, iirc, cried, and just wanted to touch the journalist’s hand because he had shaken Kobe’s hand before.

“I mean, you can keep driving tho.”

  27. kapitan_buko

I have a lot of respect for that Atlanta lineup. Horford, Korver, Teague, Millsap.

  28. sbenfsonwFFiF

This sounds almost exactly like the taxi driver in China during the Olympics who cried when Mike Breen told him he’s spoken to Kobe

  29. 3* rating for pulling over.

in all seriousness, that’s pretty cool.

I don’t even like the Celtics all that much but I’m pretty sure everyone likes Al Horford lol
