This is a prove it year for the hornets. This isn’t a “can we get into the playoffs” year. This is a, “can we play 82 games of quality basketball the season ticket holders can enjoy” type of prove it season. If we can, the success will come naturally

I feel like Peterson's strategy makes sense with an expansion looming. If we don't have the means to go balls to the walls for the next couple of seasons, making a series of smart moves and focusing on acquisitions while maintaining a team that's at least decently competitive and fun to watch while building a new culture feels like the best way to prepare for the inevitable expansion draft. Best case scenario: by the time the expansion happens, you have a good amount of players in the league who are excited by the prospect of playing in Charlotte and a solid core and assets to build around moving forward.
