The Lakers did their best to make it work with Russ, AD bulked up and became a full time 5 for Russ, Lebron played 50% of his minutes at center for Russ, the Lakers fired Vogel because of Russ, also hired Ham because he said he’d get the most out of him. To act like the Lakers stars or the organization itself didn’t try it’s best to make it work is laughable.

Russel Westbrook is probably one of the most unappreciated players in recent history…. While AD is one of the more overrated (IMO). Don’t get me wrong; amazing player – but not as great as some fans and media members make him out to be. IMO (again!) he gets an easy pass from Lakers fans who should be expecting MVP seasons from him every year he wears the Lakers jersey. Just think about all the hype he came into the league with and all the hype before he was traded to the Lakers. He has the ability to be the most dominant player in league on both ends – has he ever shown it? I would love to hear feedback from the faithful …

I feel bad for WB because had he not played with Lebron and brought sky high expectations of what the team was capable of, I don’t think people (read: Bron fans) would be as critical of him for his decline.
The trade made sense for the Lakers, it just didn’t work out. Lakers were reasonably scared about LBJ and AD getting injured as they got older so they wanted to take some of the load off them with a 3rd star who could come off the bench. Westbrook just wasn’t a great fit and started to decline much faster than people anticipated. It happens.
I feel like Westbrook needs to learn how to adjust his play if he wants to stay in the NBA for much longer and possibly get a ring. I’m really hoping that, if the Thunder don’t do something in the playoffs, the Nuggets do, and Brodie can finally get that chip.
