The Spurs will need to decide whether to renew Blake Wesley's contract for next season by October 31, 2024. Pop appeared non-committal when asked to comment on Blake’s performance thus far. Also, he reiterated that he doesn’t know who the starting five will be yet.

People didn’t want to hear when I would try to tell them, and I get it. Blake had a really elite nba level skill. His speed, and that’s an exciting thing to see as a fan. Unfortunately that’s all he has.
Defensively the only thing he had in his bag was his lateral quickness, mediocre hands and positioning. He had absolutely no offensive bag outside of the occasional fastbreak dunk.
With the incoming Castle and potentially Harrison Ingram(i’m probably drinking too much hopium with him rn) I don’t see blake making it past the pre season on this team unless he just had a MONSTER offseason.
If we renew Blake, he will be making nearly 5 million next year and take up another roster spot that we could really use on someone more experienced. I like Blake a lot, I just don’t think he fits our timeline. From what we’ve seen so far, he’s just so incredibly raw that it’s hard to see him be a rotation player in the 2025-2026 season when our goal then should be to make the playoffs, not just the play-in like this year’s goal.
He needs to be on a rebuilding team that is not as far along as we are. Like the Nets or something so he can develop properly.
I like Blake but it is very disappointing he hasn’t really made much improvement on his offensive side of his game . which is a shame he is brilliant defender and brings great energy to the team.
Ok so I wasted 2 minutes watching this. Pop actually doesn’t say anything about Welsey’s future. How did you get Pop “won’t commit on Blake Wesley’s future” from what Pop said? ffs this is clickbait.
