The Knicks never needed to see if Randle fits. They knew he fit because they say him with this group last year in January when the Knicks went 14-2. So they knew he fit. The reason the Knicks traded Randle is because he didn’t sign the contract extension this past summer. They didn’t want to end up in the same situation they did with OG this past summer next summer. So they moved him. That could have hindered their ability to resign Mikal Bridges or they could have lost Randle for nothing.
Randle absolutely fit with this team and the Knicks would have most likely made the NBA finals had he played. At the very least the ECF.
We definitely can use Nick Richards as our starting center. That’s probably the missing piece

U guys forgot that how good J. Randle was after the trade of Barrett and Quickly for OG to the Knicks? You guys forgot before Randle went down the Knicks were undefeated since the trade? And you guys thinking that he doesn’t fit? For me he fit quite well to the current Knicks it’s just KAT fits better because the Knicks needed a Center so bad. But I don’t think KAT is an upgrade to Randle specially that the Knicks lost Devo in the trade. And it sucks because of his contract. The Knicks shouldn’t have the Center problem if they focused on bringing back Hartenstein, they should’ve traded Robinson’s or Randle to give I.Hart the contract he wanted but instead the Knicks lost 3 starters. 😂
