Marcus Smart? Not for anything involving Deuce, please Leon NO!

Not sure we need a backup PG this bad, to risk bringing in another injury-riddled player…

Sorry to burst anyone’s bubble…but getting Marcus Smart makes us a wayyy better team. Especially if it only costs Mitch and Deuce.

Is a backup PG who plays stellar D… worth both Mitch and Deuce?

We can’t get Marcus Smart without giving up a core player. Marcus Smart’s contract isn’t small

I’m dubious of the trade and think that’s wayyy too much to give up for Smart BUT I imagine he’s insanely pissed off the C words won a chip as soon as he left. If he can channel that rage into his 2022 form, he’d be an incredible fit here.

But again if it’s Mitch AND Deuce, sorry that’s too rich. I saw some other headline implying Josh would be involved – that’s an absolute non-starter

If it cost both Mitch and Deuce it’s simply a horrible deal , McBride can’t run an offense but Kolek , Shamet and Payne can , the Knicks aren’t lacking in guys who can play point guard.

McBride’s ability to play point guard is improving but he’s a rotation player on rookie scale money who makes over 40% of his 3s that is simply more valuable than what Smart brings at his age and current salary .

Smart would need to come with picks for me to consider it.

How reliable are these “ sources “ that are reporting this

The benefit is his expiring 20 mil that would be a great trade piece for something else down the line, kinda like a better version of Bojan. But I wouldn’t give up Deuce. I’d throw in Mitch, Toppin and picks straight away

I am suprised by the pushback on acquiring Smart. I believe Smart would start next to JB if he was traded here and it would push Hart back to the bench. Obviously in any deal Mitch has to go. In a vacuum I view it as Deuce for Smart.

I don’t think its a trade we have to do right now but I think alot would be dependent on how Shamet, Payne, Kolek, Precious, Sims play leading up to that point

I bet Philly wants him and Leon’s just trying to hike up the asking price

This report seemed half baked from the start. It would require two rotation members to get the trade done from a salary perspective, which you can’t be doing when depth is already a state of some concern. While I’m sure there were some thoughts about acquiring Smart earlier in the offseason, I think that basically went out the window once the Bridges and KAT trades were finalized.

Any other year I’d love to get Marcus Smart. Just seems like we really don’t have a need. Another bench PF might be better.

Maybe the Bucks should go get him.

Reminder that all of the trades we’ve made in the last few years have been complete surprises while all the potential trades reported in the news didn’t happen.

If it is Sims that goes I am cool. If not, I am sorry we are good

The most vivid memory I have of Smart is him taking a knee in absolute exhaustion when a timeout was called during the 2022 Finals because Curry was cooking him
AND the rest of the entire Celtics team. Fuck the Celtics of course, but I did feel really bad for him lol, literally nothing more he could do. Curry is an absolute god.

If they are actually considering packaging deuce in this deal, that leads me to believe the FO may see something in our rookies that we don’t know yet. At this point, although I definitely don’t want to see Deuce go anywhere… I trust the office regardless of what they choose

DEAR LEON, we have Marcus Smart at home
