-While Fernando is the favourite to get the last roster spot, the performance of some of the guards early makes this a harder decision
-Team prefers Carlson to get a ton of 905 games in
-JaKobe probably not playing in the preseason
-Ochai and Gradey’s options likely to be used
-Team has a few weeks to get a Mitchell extension done if they want to

I wanted to see Walter play, it would suck not being able to let him play in the preseasonĀ

I think you pick up Ochai’s option. $6.3M next year isn’t that expensive for at the very least a solid defender, and if you decide to move on, he’s still valuable as a contract in a bundle if needed as an expiring. Dick is obviously a no brainer, that is getting picked up.

I think they need to commit to some developmental pieces, at the risk of continuing roster churnĀ without moving into the next developmental stage during Scottie’s timeline. ThisĀ is the risk of the “redraft” prospects like Ochai and Davion. If they don’t work out, you get caught holding the bag much sooner than with a rookie. For what it’s worth, I do think both were good swings.

Ochai is 10000% getting his option picked up. I get that he wasnāt good in SL, but we really donāt need him to be creating his own offense or attacking off the dribble. Heās already a good cutter, literally just needs to hit his 3s to be a rotational piece. Iām willing to give him until his rookie contract ends to try to figure things out.
