Nembhard has proven more as a winner than Ben Mathurin and he should continue as a starter.

We never should have fired Frank Vogel. He could have been our Spoelstra.

We will never win a championship until we have like a top 50 ALL-TIME player. As a small market, we wonāt get the calls or the NBAās favor unless there is a player that they are trying to promote. We aināt winning shit with All NBA 3rd team players.
HeyItsChase
It wouldn’t have me like that in this sub but in r/nba and most other places. I think many of you agree.
We beat both Bucks and Knicks if both teams are fully healthy. All year it didn’t matter much who we played against. If we were on, we won. If we were off, we lost. We took fat Ls against baaaaad teams.
Exceptions: 2 Celtics ECF games, Nuggets (jokic shot) and TWolves (Ant block[foul]). We lost those games playing well.

If we ever get a bigger wing, I think our roster will be unlocked if we slide Nesmith down to the 2. Yeah you’re losing a second ball-handler, but I like the idea of Hali being surrounded by big wings and that forces him to be aggressive with the ball as well.
New_Essay_4869
Even if it were possible, Mathurin should not be traded in a 1 for 1 for Anthony Edwards. He’s him
Meteora3255
Trading for Siakam was a shortsighted move that looks better because we got a favorable path to the ECF.

We really shot ourselves in the foot not trading for Deni Avdija – literally would have been the perfect guy for us at the 3.
Lewd_Knight
It was a mistake for Rick to have Jalen Smith over Isaiah Jackson. The experience Jackson would have gained during the regular season would have helped more in the post season when Rick decided to play Jackson more

OP, I remember when you said we should sign Cody Zeller AFTER we signed Wiseman. Thatās what would have you like this

Jarace should have played over Sheppard last year and should be playing 20+ minutes a game to start this year

Projections that put us at the 6th seed are right, and our ceiling is the 2nd round of the playoffs barring injuries from other teams again or a big trade from our side.

I’ve got three, the last is probably the most controversial.
Not in this subreddit, but in others: ABA titles count as NBA titles since ABA was absorbed into NBA.
In this subreddit maybe, but not nearly as much as it would have 10 years ago: Ron Artest is an all time great Pacer and got totally hosed by the Malice in the Palace, even amongst Pacers fans at the time.
Tentatively: Nembhard and Haliburton together are not nearly as great as the ‘sum of their parts’. Meaning: at least last year, they didn’t complement each other well enough to justify making Nembhard a franchise cornerstone. For instance, Nembhard was by far his best (and really awesome) in the playoffs after Haliburton went down. However, I’m only tentative because my HOPE is that they just need time, Nembhard’s continued growth, and especially Rick Carlisle’s coaching to develop into something that’s complementary. If that doesn’t happen, I hope Pacers sell high.

They should deal BM and AN for a more legit SG.

Pacers did not trade away Kawhi. They traded the pick for G.Hill and the Spurs ended up taking Kawhi with that pick. The only reason fans think this way is because NBA draft trades aren’t done properly. If they were done like the NFL, no one would think we actually traded Leonard. It’s like the Jarace/Bilal trade. We didn’t trade away Bilal, we traded the pick to the Wizards (who wanted Bilal).

I donāt like that I feel like this but I really donāt think Benn is gonna work out here. But I think Shep has even more potential

Pacers should be happy if Mathurin becomes a solid player, he’s not an all star level player.
Snafudumonde
The George hill-kawhi deal was not a “fait accompli” and the pacers could have backed out any time if they decided they would rather have Kawhi. The decision makers at the time have said as much publicly. They just really valued George Hill and very likely didn’t see Kawhi as more than a good role player. I also think if you add Kawhi to those 2013-2014 teams, pacers are finals bound.
GERBILSAURUSREX
Jarace will never be a starter on a good team.
Benn is obviously better than Nembhard, and this sub is too focused on one good playoff series from Andrew and has been convinced by r/NBA that Mathurin isn’t good.

Ben Mathurin is extremely overrated and will be traded this year. š„āļø

Lance should have been treated like our star player, not Paul. He should have been given the bag on day one. He’s not the most gifted player, I know. I don’t care. There’s just something about him being on the court in a Pacers uniform. I’ll die on this George Hill.

The George Hill trade was worth it for completing an ECF starting 5 (and Kawhi never would have blossomed here like he did under Pop)

Benn and Hali will never be as good together as they are apart. But if you’ve got both, you can dominate the entire game. The Celtics did it with Walker and Pierce, and again with Tatum and Brown.
