[Hello Welcome Pod] Darko details the “long-term process” that the Raptors will take with rookie Ulrich Chomche. Says he’s being careful not to overload him, and they’re focusing on the very simple things like eating right and being on time.

Imagine being paid 6 figures and the only expectation is for you to eat kale and chicken and be 15 mins early. These boys won the genetic lottery
Taking a genetically lifted boy and hoping to teach him basketball and turn him into a man. I don’t know that this works. Even Giannis was playing in a Euro pro league when has was drafted. Has this ever been done before?
2 years away of being 2 years away.
Don’t forget tying his shoes. That’s an injury waiting to happen.
He’s more of a project than most projects, but he seems to have a good head on his shoulders.
I don’t care if he’s 5 years away from being 2 years away the dude is a 7 foot tall Gazelle and gets down the court better than most bigs in the league.
Chomche probably on that African time zone lol
A lot of fouls but he has really great vision and so much quickness!
Lol talk about having no expectations.
love it. Build up the young man’s foundations. He’s a blank slate for Darko and he’s a sponge for knowledge. Just everyone have patience and stop using that stupid insulting 2 years away meme; he’s not Bruno, and the raptors have a better support system now than ever before.
This is the Darko way.
They want him to build a solid foundation of professionalism and good habits before they get to improving his play on the court.
But people here said he’d be in the rotation
Bro like a toddler for real
Think about it this way, Chomche has a completely different cultural and contrasting upbringing to most rookies in the league. If you’ve watched any clip with him during media day or even before he got drafted, he is really ‘sheltered’. They’re going to treat him like a kid because he’s literally a kid.
I think the FO and coaching staff know that he has a really high ceiling and are willing to invest substantially. It’s like the good type of grooming lol. You treat these players like family in the hope that they stay loyal. The brutal thing is that the FO that can trade you after all of that.
People who think this stuff isn’t important for such a young, inexperienced player have clearly never read one thing about how Giannis adjusted to life in the NBA.
I’m reminded of watching the Last Dance and the episode where they talk about Pippen growing several inches and putting on weight when he was in college and finally eating enough food. I think Giannis had a similar experience. Give him the supports he needs and the basketball will come in time.
