Let’s explore the key reasons why Golden State could still make some noise in the postseason, and then I’ll share my take on the situation.

  1. Unless Kuminga makes the most shocking leap and i mean all nba kinda leap, the Warriors gonna battle for a play in spot. Nothing more. Steph might actually average close to 30 again, cause this team ain't looking ripe as of now.

  2. I think there is about 25% chance that the Warriors become a true contender. That is not nothing, only a few teams every year can truly win it all, but it also means that a lot of things have to go right for them to reach that status.

Biggest worry is that the roster is still not very naturally constructed: None of the centers provide spacing to get the best out of Dray, Wiggins and Kumminga don't easily fit together in a lineup, most of the options for the two-guard-spot are a little small, while going "small" often is most effective when you add size at the two and three.

  3. If this team can add a true legit scorer that could score 25pts per game they will content to a championship…

  4. Dray has a better chance at hitting 35% from 3 than he does at not getting suspended.

  5. People forget now because of the popularity of the “the splash brothers” narrative. But there was a time when they were a trio, and believe it or not Green was that third sniper. That’s what originally made me start watching the Warriors frequently in 2014. I’ve always been super high on 3&D type players at the SF and PF positions because it allows them to positively affect the offense without even touching the ball much, letting the PG/SG dribble/pass as much as possible without taking away from their teammates scoring. i think the best 2 player combo in the modern NBA offensively speaking is a ISO heavy PG who can create and score inside and out and SF/PF who’s a lockdown defender and a great 3 PT shooter. It causes whatever player defending them to pick their poison, either try to play help and get burned for an open 3 or sit on the perimeter unable to stop the PG and SG from driving inside too fast for a bigger center to react. 3&D players just make such a difference in spacing, and when a faster guard has the option of going to the rim, it makes them so hard to defend, especially when they’re a good passer, because if the center closes on them, they can usually find their own center wide open on the other side of the rim. As someone who played guard growing up, and was good at layups and dunks, I was always taught never to drive the rim straight on, but for drive for either the left side of the backboard or the right side of the backboard, because it creates an open lane on the other side of the basket for an easy pass if rim protectors jump in front of you. Having a 3&D PF like green just makes that system even better, because the guard now has the option to kick throw to the other lane in front of the basket or back out to the perimeter of the defense starts swarming the paint for an open 3. you’ll notice Luka and SGA are really good at that. Luka in particular because he’s so good at throwing up Lobs in those open lanes and bail out passes.

  6. Draymond is teams enforcer, as teams are allowed to pummel Steph, Refs and NBA AllLLOW IT, someone needs to stick up for the warriors. Stop the crap

  7. I have the Warriors as the 4th seed (health not withstanding). The question is can they keep good chemistry with so many players demanding playing time. We'll see.
