The most intriguing idea here to me was waiting until next offseason to extend Sengun so we have more cap flexibility moving forward. With the rumors of them trying to get a deal done now, that idea may already be gone.

Let me preface by saying that although I’m team trade, I understand people on the opposite side.
But IMO, this team needs multiple trades and massive consolidation. We have 12-14 players that could crack rotations, 8/9 lock rotation guys for any team. But with 7 young players 3 to 5 to 7 vets that either deserve massive minutes to 10 to 15 minutes, we are approaching the point where we are stunting the growth of some of the core 7, both long and short term.
I know people are attached, and some of the players peak potential is unknown, but we have enough to make 2 MASSIVE moves and still have 3 or 4 of the core and some vets.

For an article about trades, I’m not seeing anything here that knocks my socks off. Trading several of our young core + picks for Booker or aging KD or JBut just doesn’t sound all that appealing.
We have so many fun young players it’s difficult to think about parting with any of them right now. Honestly, if any 1 of Jalen or Cam or Sengun or Amen or Tari or Bari or Sheppard were on another team right now, he’d be the guy that every fan of that team is amped to watch this season. And we have all those guys. Let’s play this out! 🚀

If a coach cannot figure out how to win with this talent, then they should be fired.
To trade any of our young players for an aging Booker, old KD, hobbled Embiid, overrated Mitchell, or insert other player, would be one of those things that everyone will regret, like when we traded Elvin Hayes.

Free agency is probably the best way to add to the team. I will say, a consolidation trade that clarifies roster and roles is more likely than not, I just don’t think it’s going to be on the order of magnitude that generally gets talked about here.

There will be a consolidation trade this season. No way around it

This is truly the moment for Stone to prove whether he’s a truly great GM or just good. There are so many choices and mostly not clear deadlines on when to make them. I think he can hover around the status quo up to maybe next season’s trade deadline before making big decisions but by then we need to have a clear answer to who is the #1 option for this team. Still rooting for one of our guys to take a leap and fill that role, but if not, hopefully there’s a star player shaking loose for us to cash in.
