I cannot say that I am unnerved.
I’ve seen Embiid play basketball this summer.
I’m not in any hurry to see him play basketball this fall. There is a disconnect between “We need Embiid available on April 15!” and “We need to see Embiid play preseason basketball games!” Go as slowly as you need and if we see Embiid at Xmas so be it.

Man no reason to play these games. We know who Joel is. It’s not worth it.

I’m glad he’s getting expert medical assessments on his physical well being if that is the actual case. That’s my thoughts on it.

Well, not exactly what I want to hear

we can coast with maxey/pg & co. for a lot of the season. let embiid do what he has to do to be healthy in april/may

It’s a scheduled check up … let’s wait for the results.. we will know soon enough … also FTC ..

We are DEEP this year and finally have reliable backup bigs. Give Joel all the time he needs.

Gee I wonder…just a matter of time tbh

Joel played in the Olympics without injury. He has lost 20+ pounds. Having routine checks on his knee instead of waiting until the pain gets unbearable is a good thing.

Joel had his preseason in the Olympics. He will be ready when the season starts.

When you think about it, the ideal scenario that gives him the best chance of being healthy for the playoffs is for his season to start in January to accommodate for the 20+ games that, best case scenario, he would play during a deep playoff run. It’s why I genuinely don’t think the team cared about him playing in the Olympics – it sort of gives him an excuse to push the start of his season.

You just hope it’s *mostly* by design and not because his knee is actually shot, Kawhi-style. My gut tells me that it’s a little of both. I don’t fault him for coming back when he did last season for the playoffs, but there was a cost to it.

I mean, I don’t mind them taking their time and proceeding cautiously, but like…..are we just going to pretend that the Olympics never happened?

People gotta understabd that they’re gonna be very csreful with Embiid. Playoffs is the focus, not Preseason, not the first game of the season, or january, or march. We know that he’s not injured because well he’s just not injured and training. So just relax

  12. dude_catastrophe

I feel a lot of this is setting the stage early for warranted load management through the season. This way they avoid as much scrutiny as possible.

It’s an assessment to see how it’s healed and if anything changed since playing in the Olympics. It’s preseason games and they’re being hyper cautious by not playing him in meaningless basketball.

We really won’t know if something isn’t right again until the season starts. This is a whole new roster. Chemistry is incredibly important and he is the center piece of the whole thing. They aren’t dumb they won’t just sit him forever and plug him in later.

Dude didn’t just lose 25 pounds by sitting on the couch since the Olympics. They are just judging where it’s at since all the activity he’s been doing.

If he misses opening night then I’ll be somewhat concerned. Other than that I’m not concerned.
