Shams reporting Mitch won’t be back until January. It was rumored it may be that long before but now we have more confirmation.

I feel like Mitch has quietly become a what if story. Injuries robbed of him a DPOY or maybe even multiple tbh

Let him take his time and get right. Too many people forget what a monster he is. No rush. No shortcuts. We can weather the storm until then.

wont be back by the trade deadline

This is 100% why the KAT trade happened when it did. There was no telling how good or bad the team would’ve been without a true (and competent – looking at you, Jericho) center for three months. Those can be the difference between top 3 seed and play-in. And if we were to rush Mitch back and lose him again before the deadline we’d be SOL and have zero leverage in trade negotiations for a center
Hukporti looks good thus far tho, despite the miniscule sample size

Healthy Mitch with KAT playing alongside him is gonna be terrifying for the league.
No one is gonna have a better defense then us if that’s the case because we’re like Minnesota on that end but we got OG and Bridges and they don’t got players like that !!
metastar13
At this point, with KAT on the team it only makes sense to give him as much time as he needs to get as close to 100% as possible. If we can pull together some quality minutes at backup from Precious, Sims, and Ariel (who looked great last night), I don’t think we’ll miss him that much.
Whether he gets traded or not, a decently healthy Mitch playing from Jan-the playoffs is a fantastic luxury to have to this roster. I’m still rooting for him, and I think he can absolutely contribute to the team this year.

Didn’t we know this?

I’m cool letting him take his time. We don’t need him for the whole year, really only for certain playoff matchups

A healthy Mitch equals a chip for the Knicks. Take until all star break get healthy lose some lbs and be ready so by the time playoffs your ready to really grind and bring it home.

Knees….ankles….feet. 7 footers soft spots.
If he is 100% playoff time, we are good

I wonder if that Walker Kessler report was accounting that Ainge even knew this. I feel like he did, and that’s why he pushed for the 2 picks.
iHart leaving was really the first domino for everything lol. If we could have offered him more money, he stays, and our whole team stays.
dennishitchjr
I thought his timetable was Dec/Jan? This doesn’t seem too too different. Shit even if he needs all of Jan to be 100% I don’t see what choice the team has other than to give him the time he needs to fully heal his ankles and feet, to say nothing of getting into the shape and conditioning improvements we’ll need him to make if he stays a Knick.
lazyguy2525
Honestly pains me to say this but feels like Mitch’s career may be over. Depending on how he comes back from this latest injury, it’ll determine what’s to become of him. If he’s injured again after this, I don’t see him continuing much longer in the NBA.
zeezee2k
He has stress fracture in his foot, if he doesn’t lose weight he will continue to have higher risk of those type of injuries. Mitch has 2 months to get in shape. It would make a significant difference in his next contract. I think overall the extra muscles he put on was not good for his career.
dlee25093
He’s gotta go at this point – shame
RahavicJr
Hope not. I say we keep letting Hauktuah play. He’s been looking pretty good.
LocoMotoNYC
I’d say the last 3 seasons, even when playing “healthy,” he looked so gimpy for a 25 year old. Just seeing him limp up and down the court, he looked like a kid on 40 year old legs.
At this point, if he wants to extend his career, his minutes need to be limited to 15-20 minutes a game.
hyborians
Gotta be honest. I doubt he’s gonna hold up even for the playoffs.

More as the season goes on gonna realize the KAT trade had to happen to not waste a year of brunson on the team and the big signing of OG. We needed a center with Mitch projecting a long absence and Randle was probably not close to 100% and would be a liability at the 5 at times. Rather not have an up hill battle to post season waiting on players and just be ready from the start.

Better he misses the first 41 games and be ready for the last 40 games and the playoffs. That’s how I will look at it.

He’ll return. Won’t be on the Knicks though.
rpdonahue93
wonder what team he’ll be returning to lol
Dragonthorn1217
He’s just never healthy. Misses a ton of games every year. A real shame.
solo118
put it this way, if we do nothing with Mitch and wait it out we will see a Mitch/KAT duo and we are going to do insane things. If we do not have Mitch we have KAT with the insane wing trio of OG/Mikal/Josh and oh yeah a little guy called Jalen Brunson to tear shit up.
It is a win win for us if Mitch comes back or not. Randle at the 5 would have been awkward af, and I think I mentioned this before but our whole season may have gone to shit. The chips are ALL IN. We have this window to get a chip and we ain’t stopping.
I will say I only wish the best for Mitch and a very speedy recovery. That is one guy I would want on my side, and I sincerely hope he is wearing the blue and orange and only healthy going forward once he gets back.
