Sochan looked very good tonight. Jeremy elbowed Wagner coming out of an offensive possession in the second quarter. Which the refs didn't see so Wagner was complaining about it. Later coming into the third quarter, Pop gave Jeremy the elbow and said, 'Don't do that.' Hilariously Jeremy turned around like, 'What the hell?' And then realized it was a teaching moment and said, 'OK.' Good times. Pop knows exactly when to give impactful feedback.
We will see a very high number of these actions between CP3 and Wemby. Last year we saw much more inverted pick&roll as the Spurs hadn't a very good point guard. And Wemby shows very good passing abilities. This year, at last, we should see lot of pick&rolls which will be very difficult to defend as Wemby has the better verticality of the league.
Castle has shown very good versatility abilities (he is good in almost all domains). He should become be a very good NBA starter. He even shoots very well at 3 (open shots but he put in !!). This year we don't expect from him that he takes pull-ups at 3 but if he can catch&shoot efficiently at 3 (36/37%), it would be a very great rookie year.
And don't be too hasty to critisize Wemby because he had a difficult first game. Since April, he almost didn't took any rest. He will need few games to get his rythm (we shouldn't see a big Wemby in the 2/3 games of the preseason but he will increase his stats every game). I still think that his sophomore year will be very impressive.
Great review! Thanks for mentioning Blake. I think he is showing improvement and filling up the stat sheet, especially assists and steals in the first 2 preseason games. He and Stephon Castle are a formidable defensive backcourt when they share the floor. I saw Pop complimenting Malaki a few days ago, but I agree that he is not impressing and, to me, Blake IS impressive. Should be a better season than last year. Looking forward to it!
Apart from those, mentioned in the video, I would like to give props to Minix! 8 points in 7 minutes, that guy can shoot the lights out – exactly what the team needs with McDermott gone. On the side note – I might have to reconsider my opinion on Mamukelashvili… After seeing him in Olympic qualifiers, I thought: “Damn, that guy sucks!”… But if he keeps up performing like this, I may have to acknowledge, that I was wrong.
Side note: Danny Green retires. The Spurs needs to see if he can give some pointers on our non-shooters. I know they have a shooting coach, but an additional person couldn't hurt.
Waiting on you. knew you were going to post after Wemby and CP3 took to the court. Lob looked awesome. Also your boy Minix got some minutes out there. Smooth looking jumper.

Blake is a keeper. He will prove haters wrong when the Spurs p/u his rookie option.
Whether preseason or not, it was good to see a WIN. GO SPURS!
No room for limp D on this squad

That face you made after the limp D comment has me weak 😂

I think Wemby need to work on jump shots
Forget the hype cause they still suck and haven't done anything yet!
Cissoko look good too but my real question is : Is sochan still a starter in front of mamu or will be better in a second unit role ?
