I’ve seen this trade floated online recently, and I think it’s possible. Not sure if Atlanta gives the 1st up though. It’s top 12 protected, and Sac is probably making the playoffs this season now that they have DeMar. That pick probably ends up similar to the Indy pick at #19ish.
This trade would free the Hawks of Hunter’s 3 year deal and create cap space for next year to probably build with Risacher and Jalen Johnson. Raptors obviously get a 1st out of it, but now have to deal with Hunter. He could be good though, and fit in better than Bruce did.
Who says no? If Hawks don’t want to give a 1st, I think 3 future 2nds would be good too.

Don’t hate, this is a good draft to get an extra first in and the Kings will probably be in that playing/lower playoff seed range
So this basically means we need to trade one of Hunter or RJ this offseason, otherwise we will be a tax team.
I don’t mind it, but it’s important to see it for what it is. Accruing value in a FRP and then hopefully rehabbing some value and trading again sometime soon
K but why do we need Hunter? Are we just gonna trade him for more picks? And he’s gonna be fighting for minutes with RJ and Gradey.
This has been kicked around for a while. I don’t think Raptors are interested in a 3-year contract, they want to free up space for extending Scottie. Now that MLE can be used as a trade exception, they have better options of earning a pick by straight up taking on short term salary.
Has to have a FRP coming back to make sense to take on a three year deal for an expiring.
Though I am also interested in buying low on Hunter, not saying he is going to break out into an All Star. But he could be invigorated in a new system, he is a good defender and shot 38.5% from deep last season on 5 attempts (better than every Raptor other than IQ).
Is Hunter a bad enough contract Atlanta would attach a 1FP ? I get they probably want to start Johnson and Zach on the wings.
Bro. No one is taking Brown’s contract unless there is a team with specific salary requirements and even then, it’s doubtful even then because of the cost involved.
The most obvious end to this is any team that wants him will just wait till next season and get him as a much cheaper free agent.
I think it’s fine if you only look at it for this season but it becomes a massive problem next season. If the Raptors trade for Hunter and keep everyone else they would be a tax team in 2025-2026 which makes zero sense for them to be.
I don’t think Hunter has much of a market at that price tag and would be hard to flip for Toronto.
That Sacramento pick could be very spicy, I’d even be ok with throwing the Portland 2nd rounder with BB to complete the deal
I am not against this trade.
Hunter is probably a better player than Bruce and we get a frp just to help them with cap space. Seems like a no brainer
U smoking that good weed if you think we’re getting a first round pick in the deepest draft in years for an expiring Bruce brown
