He didn’t become the all star that many projected when he was drafted at 4, but he’s a damn good player and a key piece on a title contender.

Losing one of the best 3&D role players for nothing is not what I would classify as getting better but alright

The only thing that matters is which Jamal Murray we get come playoff time

Man looking for contract extension compliments the offseason moves by current GM

A lot of teams shine in preseason and lose air as the season goes on. Nuggets just recorded a 57 win season without a bench before running out of steam against a more aggressive timberwolves team. Murray had lower leg issues all last year, MPJ and Gordon had off-court troubles, braun is a 3rd year guy expected to step in for a top-15 defender, and jokic is coming off of a near upset in the olympics. I feel like a lot of people wouldnt be surprised if they recorded 30 wins this year (and some would take the opportunity to throw a lot of shade) so they really have nothing to prove which gives them every opportunity to do whatever they want. This includes coasting in easy games to wreck dominant teams, like they did to the celtics last year, sneak into the playoffs as a 5/6 seed and figure it out next spring. Im kinda excited to see what they do this year because all the gut feelings are against them but its always fun to root for an underdog.

Still can’t believe they lost game 7 last year. They didn’t get better unless Russ went back in time

  7. People are making out KCP as some legendary stud they beat the wolves if Murray is good. KCP is irrelevant in terms of that series or the prior one, Braun is a better defender anyway at this stage and KCP is not worth 60 some odd mill over 3 years. Russ helps them certainly he’s a much more impactful player than Jackson and has higher highs than KCP but lower lows.

Literally all boils down to Murray. We know Jokic will deliver. MPJ will play good “some” games. AG will be consistent to his ability. Murray? No one knows.

I expect a big season from Braun. Losing KCP hurt but I feel like Braun can fill in the shoes

Julian Strawther MIP season incoming y’all ain’t ready

Honestly if the Nuggets use Westbrook the correct way (offensive energy, slasher, rebounder, undersized forward, minimal ball handling) they did get better. I’m still waiting for a team to use post-superstar-Westbrook properly.

I could see Gordon taking a bigger role, he’s legit unstoppable down low when he’s locked in

  13. I hope he’s right but I don’t see it. The front office seems to be incompetent.

Pretty delusional to think they have improved kcp is a great 3 and D player and Bruce Brown helped a lot in clutch moments. But I mean Aaron Gordon isn’t going to say we suck our title window is over

If you didn’t watch Nuggets games last season, you might think KCP was some essential part of the team that got to the WCSF. He didn’t rebound, didn’t pass, shot well from 3 but took only a few shots per game and in most games, he had no offensive impact. His defense was great, but he was and is replaceable.

Another year, another team selling Russ to the media as an X factor

  17. Dudedude88

Nuggets start worse then they get back to what they were like almost. Braun and Watson has to show he can do it though

  18. Stormeve

Lots of people have the team as a tier below the real contenders. One thing they do love is being counted out lol

Honestly the starting 5 is worse but the bench is better compared to last year.

  19. swordfischh

People overrate KCP so hard. He got cooked on defence in the playoffs and didn’t score much

I can’t agree but I also don’t think the road through the west is as difficult for Denver as it was last year. Losing KAT in Minny was the most helpful move for the Nuggets chances this season.

  21. kosmos1209

Starting lineup is worse, bench is much much better with Russ and Saric coming on board. Bench was terrible and didn’t have veterans last year, and it really showed in the Minnesota series

between injuries and unreliable players, the team basically had a 7-man rotation in the playoffs — the big 4 of Murray/MPJ/AG/Jokic, and then 3 more guards in KCP/Reggie Jackson/Braun (Peyton Watson’s role diminished greatly in the Minnesota series in particular.) They ran out of gas because the big 4 were just worn down.

The team got rid of KCP (who is a great role player) and Reggie Jackson (who is booty), and then brought in Westbrook and Saric, which on paper is a downgrade — but there’s also every expectation that Strawther and Vlatko will be healthy this year, which means now it’s the big 4 + Braun starting, and a bench of Westbrook/Strawther/PWat/Vlatko/Saric which is just much less likely to be a total trash bench that’s constantly blowing 15+ point leads and constantly making the starters have to play extra minutes. It’s a more balanced bench, and that could at least possibly make up for the loss of super 5th man KCP, even if Braun doesn’t take much of a leap this year.
