Buried on page 66 out of 80 was the news that the new arena would also be the home of a potential Philadelphia WNBA franchise.
Currently the closest WNBA teams are the New York Liberty or the Washington Mystics, but no self respecting Philly fan is going to cheer for a team from those cities.
With the WNBA coming off its biggest season in decades, and with expansion teams in Toronto, San Francisco, and Portland the league is poised to continue to grow.
Partnering with NBA teams has been a priority for league expansion, so the Sixers/WNBA Philly alliance is critical for bringing pro women’s basketball to the city.

This would actually make me interested in the WNBA, i don’t like rooting for teams from other cities so I’ve never gotten seriously into it
