Does not look bad, for a rookie with a old-fashioned center game. Most of the shots were barely enough ending up bumping on the rim, but the fundamentals seem to be there.

Long road ahead, but there seems to be material for a more-than-solid player.

He’s gonna be a great player. Haters in shambles

  3. Useful-Craft9271

He’s gonna be awesome and I’ll never understand why people doubted him so much

I was so wrong about him, I thought he’d be another Jahlil Okafor or Boban

He also looked terrible defensively when switched onto the perimeter for Canada last year at the World Cup but seems to have improved

Grizzlies got their Steven Adams replacement

Biggest takeaway for me is his foot speed, several of these highlights only happen bc of his lateral quickness which was the big fear about him.

Edey’s showing that he’s more than just a big body in the paint.

I can’t believe a 7’4″ dude with skills that dominated college is good at basketball. Who would have thought?

  8. The consistent underselling of this guy when he dominated college is crazy, idgaf if he’s slow he’ll be fine

  9. Man the overall build + hair cut + some of the movement patterns really are Yao like.

If he gets some quicker feet, he’ll be a monster.

And he’s 7 foot tall and YOU CANT TEACH THAT!

He kinda moves like Tim Duncan. Not that I think he will be as good of a defender. But a little slow but always in control. We’ve seen plenty of “slow” bigs do well.

Not too mentioned he got fouled at least 6 times with no whistle.

Already getting the Shaq treatment from the refs.

I was thinking not having Adams anymore could be rough for the Grizzlies but maybe Edey can be a good replacement. He seems to be capable of doing most of the same things

I hope this dude has an amazing career; too many haters out there

I don’t think it’ll be a long career, but I’m hoping for the highs to be high.

Holy shit, he looks *really* good. I honestly can’t think of a great comparison but his mobility, ball skills, and touch are amazing for his size, as are his strength (expected) and general sense of timing and positioning and BBIQ (also expected, but some would disagree). His patience and rhythm in the post are exceptional, and not just for a rookie. If his game long/season long conditioning are up stuff, he could be a genuine star.

People always mention Boban but he *wishes* he was this mobile. This is gonna sound like a very weird comparison but he reminds me of Jahlil Okafor, if Jahlil Okafor was actually built for the modern NBA….in fact, that might be a very bad comparison but I’ll leave it until I think of a better one.

15/8/4 with 3 blocks on 0 fouls and 0 turnovers in 21 minutes his pretty damn solid

This is a highlight reel of the Bulls lack of centers as well.

It’s so strange to me how the media just runs with narratives full steam ahead. This draft class is criminally underrated and I have a feeling this next one is going to be overrated.

  21. Second play of the clip… how you gonna leave the biggest mf wide open right underneath the basket

  22. Pleasant-Guava9898

He was a top 3 option for the number 1 pick to me.

  23. kapatinphalcon

The biggest takeaway is he had ZERO fouls while playing that aggressive. He is one disciplined defender.
