Ok, so this confirms the vibe I got from the Netflix series. I didn’t know that it was in the open that Jayson’s father physically abused him, but I said a couple times to my wife that there is a serious physical/emotional abuse component to that relationship. Tatum probably still becomes a star without his father being a fucking tool, but bruh at least own it apologize and show some damn regret/remorse for how you chose to push your child in an abusive way. He comes off with an air of “I did what I had to do to make him a star and he is who he is because of me” which is so damn stupid.

Definitely some grey parenting styles out there and this is one of em. I’m glad him and Tatum have a seemingly good relationship now & JT recognizes how it helped become who he is. Also glad he’s raising Deuce differently (it seems).

For sure he’d have been as good as he is, whatever his father did/did not do to him. But he would definitely not be this humble and soft spoken for a world famous superstar, if not for the harsh upbringing.

I still remember when Tatum and the media was saying he was raised by a single parent. I was always confused because I knew I’ve seen his dad in photos with him before. All of this makes sense now in a way.
