Just came across this in the comments of a thread re: the Warriors depth and the need to consolidate it and wooooof. It seems they’ve managed to create an abundance of optionality while hamstringing (it’s not impossible, but as this outlines, just incredibly difficult to find a workable trade scenario) their ability to use said optionality this season in the process.

Do teams need to have 13 or 14 players during the regular season? I know they need 15 going into the playoffs. But what about up until then? Can they just not pay guys? Or will they be doing the 10 day contract thing where it’s new guys getting 10 days until the end of the season?
I’m not convinced the Warriors won’t make a trade before December 15th. Looney and GPII look very tradeable all of a sudden. Even if it would break our heart to see them go.
14 foot players? 😲
That’s insanely tall, no wonder they can’t do it.
Could be mistaken but signing players mid season has a lower cap hit I think
Sometimes, no trade is the best trade. I like what we have, let’s roll for 20 games and reevaluate.
I definitely feel like the NBA overdid it with the restrictions and level of complexity of trades.
They need to raise the cap with the insane inflation thats happened over the past 4 years. 2x it.
So no trades until after Christmas loll
Who is the star we think is going to become disgruntled and ask out? Because this Warriors team is deep but a little light at the top, with only one truly elite player, Curry.
You all saw the payroll and tax burden the team was under, right? The fact that they managed to get better while shedding a ton of salary is a feather in their cap.
I think JK’s taking that All Star step this season and the Warriors won’t end up making any big trade but will still be a winning team and a playoff team.
Light years. Lol
