I don’t love that we are talking about his knee in the pre-season!!!

Embiid has had the hardest workload in the league for years now. Who else is asked to score like Luka while defending like Gobert? I don’t think it’s any coincidence that his seasons almost always end in injury.
For half a decade, the team has sucked without him. The team was winning like 1 out of 3 games while he was hurt last season, and it looked like he had to come back too early and ramp up too quickly as a result. And that doesn’t stop when he’s healthy and on the court either way… he’s always had to clean up everyone’s messes on defense, and he hardly gets easy buckets on offense (I mean the dude had never even run a league average pick and roll til Harden got here).
Anyway, I think this team is way more set up for success than in years past. We’ve got two elite bucket getters on offense now, and we have a whole slew of guys who can actually stay in front of their man on defense. Not only will Joel’s life be easier night to night but he’ll have the chance to rest way more too.

Not going to lie, this has me kinda worried. Hopefully he’s still able to play like himself this season and it’s just precautionary

More rest is probably good but shit like the Kuminga injury (and Claxton the year before, and Siakam the year before) are what’s been keeping him out. Just feels like bad luck to me
We don’t know if this will work out, but we **DO** know what **HASN’T** worked out up until this point. Taking every other game off is a good compromise so that he doesn’t lose his conditioning by sitting out for any longer than a week or two but is also able to build on the chemistry with other guys through the entirety of the season.
Ultimately, how he plays during games is more important to me than the number of games he plays in. During the regular season I don’t need to see him making highlight slam dunks and hard landing after every dunk. I don’t need to see him diving for loose balls, etc.
Play passive, and then turn the intensity up a notch once we get to March.

I’m surprised we don’t spend millions making him a damn healing chamber. The man does so much for our team. Through shit coaching, terrible roster construction, and organizational sabotage he carried us through it all.

The brace is the biggest thing to me. Are we talking that huge clunky one? Or something more nimble? Is he gonna wear it forever?
