Magic Johnson on Respecting the Team That Swept Him in 1989 🧹 | @AllTheSmokeProductions #shorts

Magic Johnson, Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson debate over if the Bad Boys Detroit Pistons, who won back to back championships in 1988 and 1989 should be considered a dynasty or not. What is the cut-off between a great NBA team and one that is considered a dynasty? Is it three titles? Is it multiple championships over a stretch of years? What do you consider a dynasty?

  1. Lost in '88 won in '89 and '90.. to call a team a dynasty is subjective. If they are not a dynasty and they are not a top 10 team of all-time than they are #11 all-time no debate!! I think they are and a top 10 team of all-time..

  2. They went to three straight finals them Bad Boyz Pistons. Tough as nails with the best little men Point Guard ever in Thomas. Damn right they a dynasty

  3. 87, 88,89,90 could have been championships. If Isiah hadn't broken his hand, and rick mahorn wasnt lost to expansion, we migh be talking a difference story.

  4. Close to a dynasty. The Pistons made it to three straight finals in 88, 89, 90. They won the championship in 89 and 90 and lost to the Lakers in 7 games in 88. They had a strong run.

  5. Back to Back is impressive, but I think you gotta win 3 or more in a 4-5 year stretch to be a dynasty. They also beat Magic/Kareem and Bird past their prime and before Jordan's Apex. Great team, but idk about Dynasty

  6. I think they were a dinasty; three straight finals appearances, four straight ECFs, and doing it wirh defense.

  7. To me a Dynasty is the Lakers of the 80's the Celtics, the Bulls of the 90's back to back is difficult yes but a Dynasty? no not even close they had 2

  8. The reason no one ever brings up the Pistons back to back run or mentions it as a dynasty is because they played their game with no honor or integrity! Not good defense but literally trying to hurt the opposing teams best players by undercutting legs, pushing players in the air with no strategic purpose of deflecting or stealing the basketball and all out fist fights. They cant be recognize as a dynasty for the mere fact is if they hadnt played dirty to win against Chicago we would literally be seeing MJ and the bulls with 5 championships before his first retirement! No one cares about their championship run because they got there by playing dirty basketball. From Lakers to Celtics all teams in between felt the Pistons were disrespectful and clowns as champions. Once the Bulls embarassed them and Isiah had to tuck his tail between his legs with time on the clock in the 4th he scurried back to the locker room without shaking the winners hand. Michael Jordan shook all Pistons hands when Bulls got beat. Isiah and the Pistons (except Joe Dumars and John Salley) didnt shake hands when they lost they didnt even wait til the game was up they ran and had to hide in the locker room because they had been exposed! Losers in the end and no honor in their championships because of dirty play. Their 'legacy' doesnt echo greatness at all.

  9. i feel like when the bad boys were up 3.2 vs lakers in 1987 they shoud have won but bad calls lost them that series. they would have won 3 but then u can argue if scottie didn't get injured in game 7 the bulls would have won 4 in a row

  10. Meanwhile we've got two loudmouths who accomplished "0" 💍💍 say oldies got no skills while the other one says he'd cook anybody 🤦

  11. Unfortunately he’s right … I love Detroit bad boys and 2004 Detroit. As Houston rocket from 94 to 95 this is not a dynasty of course … so sad

  12. They're the closest thing to a dynasty imo, similar to the Heatles. Bad Boys went to 3 straight finals, winning 2 while the Heatles went to 4 straight and won 2

  13. They beat Magic Bird Jordan Drexler and really got cheated out of a chip because of that phantom foul on Kareem……..the Pistons were special because those championships were extremely hard. Isiah was a great leader
